FALLER: Trent Murphy, DE/LB, Stanford

Murphy worked out with the linebackers on Monday and was unimpressive all around. He clocked a 4.86 40 (to go with his 19 bench press reps on Sunday) and had a few mistakes in positional drills. He's a second-rounder at this stage.

he had 15 sacks! long arm people usually do have low benchpress!

Let him drop.

Here's my plan:
1. Murphy looks bad at combine.
2. Murphy drops in the draft.
3. Murphy is drafted by the Steelers.
4. Murphy has 65 sacks in his first four seasons.
5. Murphy is arguably the best player (MVP?) of the Steelers' threepeat of championships.

3rd rd compensatory (pick #97) OLB Marcus Smith Louisville

I'd double up on secondary in this draft like Tomlin did his first draft at LB with Timmons and Woodley.

Both are fierce, competitive, playmakers AND capable of starting early. Dennard can lock down the premier WR's in the division (Josh Gordon, Aj Green, Josh Gordon) while Joyner can work into sub packages and be a playmaker when Troy leaves. They're premium talents.

PS I agree OLB is a huge NEED. Check out Marcus Smith. He is a monster coming off the edge. Him and Cam Heyward stacked on one side would yield 13-20+ sacks a season once Marcus is coached up.
Yep.
Pryor is the Louisville defender that everyone knows, but Marcus Smith might have been the true leader of that defense. ("character" guy)

If it does indeed go CB & FS in the early rounds, he's one of the OLBs who I'd take in R3-R4.

Oh, and Bucannon all the way.

REDO:
watkins and evans will both be gone top ten! dix, dennard and gilbert will go in the 10-14 picks! so unless we reach for a player, the steelers will more than likely have nix, pryor and mosely to pick from! i am still on the nix bandwagon...but could totally see them taking pryor with 15. i have been reading more and more that the steelers are probably gonna let worilds test free agency waters...so an olb is a must! who the hell will back up woodley and jones if they get hurt....chris carter...no thank you! so, dee ford (i think will be gone by 47 or trent murphy has to be the second pick!

1. Calvin Pryor - S - Louisville
2. Trent Murphy - OLB - Stanford
3. Keith McGill - CB
4. Brandon Coleman - WR
5. Joe Don Duncan - TE
5. James Morris - ILB
6. Antonio Andrews - RB
7. BPA
7. BPA

You know... I honestly think that Ozzie reads this forum.

(So, from now on, our code for Bucannon is "best available PUNTER.")

(Won't he see that code??? Don't worry: parentheses are like kryptonite to Ozzie.)

We could wait til the 3rd and take Jean-Baptiste or McGill. Both 6'3" and are still learning the position. Which is good since we don't usually play CBs the 1st year anyway. That way they learn to play it the LeBeau way from the start.
