Hmmm...
where's your Florida DB?

Physical WR, LT, NT, ILB (unless Spence makes it back), CB .. in that order

ILB maybe. I'd be thinking at this point that it will be tough for Foote to return at his age. I'd love to see Vince Williams or Sean Spence become the guy there in the middle we need.

I'm definitely cheering for Sean Spence!

The thing with ILB too, is that when Farrior was doing great, he always said it started with the guy right in front of him: Hampton. If we get a big run stuffing NT, that might solve two problems in one move.

I'm really hoping Spence can work through the injury and compete for a spot on this team. God Bless him!

I agree, if we get a big run-stuffing NT we could then move McLendon to DE.

hmmm, I may need to think about that possibility for my mock...

i think nix is a strong possibility . i don't see them paying hood more money and keisel's tank is running dry. the obvious solution is to move mclendon to DE which better suits him and draft a starter quality true NT.

I would say Nix at this moment. IMO the only no-brainer franchise LT is Jake Matthews. If he's there, pick him. If he's not, then I rather have a true NT. Picking Nix can also solve the DE problem as they can move McLendon to DE which suits him better.

If they don't use their first round pick on LT, I don't want them to spend another high picks on this position. There is too much risk of spending a high draft pick for RT-to-LT experiment. The Steelers need to address too many needs through the draft. Can't afford to waste another high pick.

Ha, ha, ha... guilty as charged. Louchiez Purifoy & Marcus Roberson were indeed my top two "wants."

But, I was assuming that Adams would develop as a LT and/or that McClendon could play NT. Alas, neither came to fruition. Ergo, LT & NT became bigger needs... although, I have not eliminated the possibility of drafted one of those aforementioned CBs (which is also a need) in R2.

Yep... and the NT helps the OLBs, too.

Exactly.

Heyward - NIX - McClendon

I am starting to think that NT is the better "value" pick in R1 (because, I do not see the Steelers drafting in the top ten). Plus, there is one legitimate NT in this draft... compared to two or three great LTs (and about seven good OTs).

I hear you about the RT-to-LT type of R2 pick. That said, while I hear your concerns, LT is a huge, gaping hole. Thus, it is worth the risk. It did not work for Adams nor Gilbert, but it has worked in the past: Max Starks was a pretty good LT, and Marvel Smith was a great LT.

Or, they trade** for Jonathan Martin.

**(which means that they could draft one of the Florida CBs in R2. )
