Default Re: Draft. What's our biggest need?

The problems right now is

Defense- in the past years our pass defense was good and we loved the play of Ike Troy Clark but that was when we got pressure and sacks now that we don't have that pressure our secondary is exposed to there biggest weakness coverage. Clark needs to go no coverage skills whatsoever and has lost some steps also Troy has much as he looks bck to his old self he has lost a step in coverage. Ike is getting old but still solid the only player who can still perform without a pass rush.

Needs are a cover safety to replace Clark note that the shark will be there to replace Troy he is not suitable to be a coverage guy that we really need. And a corner like always. Not dline not linebackers we have invested so much that we can invest anymore and see the other positions suffer more. Bottom line the young dline and linebackers need to perform.

Offense- obvious oline I think we all know that but also a tall reciever for Ben to throw to with hands or a tight end who can stretch to field and be a mismatch.

I would rank them like this

Cover safety
Wide reciever
Corner
Oline ( maybe another year will help who knows )

Bill Parcells used to build teams with linemen first and then in the 2nd and 3rd years get the skill players. I think we have the core of a solid O line with Pouncey, Decastro and Adams at RT. The blue chip LT is still missing and if he is there in the draft then you take him.

Defensively, we are seeing what Heyward can be. I think Hood and McLendon are good enough to play the other DE spot, so we really need a NT that can be a force. That would be the 2nd priority IMO.

Next would be a pass rusher and a #1 CB. Many think we have what should amount to a pass rush in Jones, Woodley, etc. I think the next logical area of need is CB, as Ike is getting Old, Gay is well.......Gay, Cortez Allen is looking like a #3 cb.

Of course, when you get to the draft you take the BPA and if Teddy Bridgewater is that guy, then I say you take him. Ben is a 10 year vet, with 15 years of miles on him. I still think we can win with him, but need the other parts of the foundation built up first.

Did you read what I SAID? THE PASS DEFENSE is garbage. Whenever we need a stop they get gashed consistently....

Look up those stats or watch the games... we have rarely stopped the pass when we need to win the game.

BTW, that is a fact. Look it up and actually watch the games...

False. He hasn't really been doing anything. He'll finish games with 1 T 1 A and a sack and people will claim he is the best thing on our defense.

Too many to list. This organization is so devoid of talent i take BPA not a RB. To include drafting a QB, and trading Ben. This team isnt competing anytime soon.

I read what you wrote. I watch every game.

So, now it's barely stop the pass when we've needed to win. That's different.

Here are the "stats" to which you refer and they don't support your argument.

Pass Defense (fewest yards)
Year - Rank
2009 - 16th
2010 - 12th
2011 - 1st
2012 - 1st
2013 - 3rd (so far)

Yea, we've lost a couple games by giving up the late TD. We've lost a few games because we turned it over or missed a FG too.

Your BS stats from a total yardage don't support anything...

Above is a link to real stats... you can do all can look at everything yourself since you apparently think we "are just a few bounces" from undefeated.

BUT in non-drug induced worlds we rank at the bottom 1/3 of every category.... in terms of efficiency vs. actually offenses. This is a BAD team that is poorly put together. I know you probably think Tomlin is awesome ( I don't ) but he's not solely responsible as this team just has HORRENDOUS talent across the board.

The last few drafts have sunk the ship as it were...

I have not agreed with a post more in quite a while.

LT, NT, CB... in that order.

As I've averred, winning takes three things (and last year, you added a fourth & final):
-get a passer
-protect the passer
-rush the passer
-defend the passer

got BB
need a LT
need a NT (it will trickle down & help the OLBs)
need a CB
