Default Colts sign former Steelers RB/KR Chris Rainey

After remaining unsigned for the last eight months, former Steelers running back/return man Chris Rainey has found himself back in the NFL.

He signed a contract with the Indianapolis Colts - the same team that traded a first round draft pick for Trent Richardson earlier this season - after a tryout in Indianapolis Tuesday.

Rainey was released by the Steelers after a domestic dispute found him in trouble with the law. Police detained Rainey after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend - a charge she would later deny. The Steelers released him after his rookie year that saw him emerge as one of the better return men in the game.

He was a lost cause as a running back, and it would seem Indianapolis would be looking to use him as a returner. David Reid has been less than stellar for the Colts in that capacity, and he could be on his way out.

Indianapolis (7-3) plays at Arizona this weekend.

David Reid was hot garbage when he played for the Rats. Not sure what Indy ever saw in him. Rainey would be an immediate upgrade over Reid.

I think he had one or two good games as PR/KR, but was absolute shit playing WR. He was also injured more often than not.
