I think resting players is like a golfer standing on the 18th tee of a championship thinking to himself that he could afford to bogey this hole and STILL win -- after which he then proceeds to rinse his next two tee shots and is last seen slinking off to the parking lot talking to himself.

Ultimately, it boils down to what WE did (or in this case didn't do) and it's our fault for being in such a position as to have to be concerned about such things.

There's nothing we can do about it and if it ends up costing us a shot at the playoffs, I'd chalk it up as motivation for next year.
I agree, I think this being his first year in KC he is sending the wrong message, especially as it looks he will probably have to go to Indy for the first playoff game. Nothing like returning to the "scene of the crime" where the Chiefs just shit the bed, not a good move IMO.

Steelers have rested players even with a bye week (Willie Parker got his break in 2004 when Cowher sat Bettis in the last regular season game) - avoiding injuries with a playoff road game the next week is certainly defensible

I assume the Dolphins will beat the Jets and we will not need to beat ourselves up about the Chiefs getting stomped

True, but Dolphins/Jets is always a coin toss just like Jets/Pats and other rivalries.

Well said, hell even the Steelers/Browns is no walk in the park, division games are always meant to bring out the best in a team. I think that the Jets will give the Dolphins one helluva fight, if not for the sheer fact that this is probably Rex's last game in NY and not to mention that if Rex takes a look at the game film he may even find his defense is better than that of Buffalo's. Take a look at what Buffalo did to Tannehill and Matt Moore last Sunday, I believe the Jets can bet the Phins!!!

Don't want to miss the playoffs for second year in a row but we are a long shot. But please Santa all I want for Christmas is the Ravens sitting their purple pimply posteriors at home with their over paid Flaccid one.

If Andy is smart, you go into the playoffs red hot. They got smacked by the Colts last weekend and are facing a division rival this week. No momentum for them at all if they sit starters. Look at the last 3 Super Bowl winners. They got hot at the right time.

it'd be funny if the chargers become the team that bounces the chiefs from the playoffs

The ravens backed into the playoffs last year, losing 3 of 4...

If he does decide to rest his starters against Chargers and they lose, I hope they have to face the Chargers in the playoffs and get knocked out by them.

can't happen unless they both make it to the AFC Championship game.
