I do not care what anyone says, being at the game is better, 10 times over. I went to the Oakland Coliseum this last October. I parked for free 10 min walk away, bought a ticket from a lady at the stadium I spoke with over Craigslist, cost was 80 bucks for 30 yard line tickets with perfect view. Didnt buy that lousy watered down beer, didnt by that cancer ridden slop they serve at the stadium. Walked in, walked out, no issues, enjoyed the game accept for the result. 10 min walk back to the car and it took me 15 min to get to the freeway. Nice, simple and easy.

With regard to how the NFL allegedly is attempting to make the stadium experience more fan friendly, this is yet another example of how the NFL always thinks of new ways to screw over its most loyal fans for every possible $

Packers Fever Cools a Bit, and the Explanation Is Complex

The Packers usually ask season-ticket holders to buy playoff seats in November. In years past, if the games were not played, fans could request a refund or use the money as payment toward tickets for the next season. But the Packers eliminated the refund option this season, said Aaron Popkey, a team spokesman. And a 2-5-1 swoon beginning with the game in which Rodgers was hurt clouded Green Bay’s playoff chances, so many fans held off.

“I’ve got to pay for season tickets sometime,” Watson said, “but I don’t want to have to pay that at the end of December when I can wait for the end of May. The interest isn’t much, but it’s my money, and I want it. They want it, too. So we butt heads.

“There were seven of us in here talking on Monday, and none of us had sent the money in.”

I'll bet the Packer's revisit that policy for next year.
I have no problem with the Steelers. They send invoice at the beginning of Dec. Usually due mid Dec. You pay on a credit card online and can request a refund if they don't play either or both games. The refund hits your statement before the initial charge is ever due to the credit card company. No big deal.

Ravens do a pay as you go. So you pay for the first playoff game and then only pay for the 2nd game if they win and play it at home.

Only playoff games and only at the best venues (Arrowhead, CLink, etc.).

And, I was not alone. The stadium was 45% Steelers fans, all of whom were losing their minds on that play.

Likewise, I was in attendance, in Arizona, when Jerome Bettis scored a game-winning TD in OT. The Steelers fans (60% back then) cheered for a full five minutes.

Nothing beats that.

see that nice and all being in a warm stadium wearing jorts and chest bumping dudes.. but its a whole other animal if your in green bay tomorrow, or the burgh in the winter.. its tough to have a good time when your freezing your yum yums off

friggin teegree wouldnt last a minute at ravens vs. steelers 15 degree snowy and windy day at heinz field.. he'd be flying back to san diego in his board shorts by the first tv time out guy gets cold if its below 75

Basically they want you to give them money for something 9+ months in advance without having them pay interest to you..

so they can put your 1k for season tickets in to the bank and collect interest off it.. must be nice

We had a thread about this a couple months back. The owners have made attending games a wallet-raping experience. People are simply getting tired of it. It's a marketing statistics thing. Businesses try to keep you balanced on that razor's edge of still wanting the product yet being completely frustrated with the cost. The problem with that model reveals itself when something big happens like the economy tanking. They think they can have coupon night and that'll fix things but statistical models are pretty terrible at calculating human emotions.

OT example, Comcast had a cable monopoly in my neighborhood and jacked around customers for years. Then, when fiber moved in, people flooded to other providers in droves (I'd bet 80% of my street or more in a few months). It's so bad that Comcast started sending out ads under a different name.

That being said, being at the game is great because you can see the whole field especially the safeties. Typical network coverage is framed like a soap opera.

I have to give the 51 to 49% edge watching the games at home. That said - it's been brought up here - there are angles and moments of the game you don't catch on TV PLUS - while you are amped up for your team to be in the playoffs, or sadly cheer for another team because your team lost in the snow at home to the Dolphins, and can do so from the comfort of your recliner while making or ordering from your favorite local joint with family and/or friends, playoff game with it all on the line at Heinz field, watching a potential championship squad put it all together and the stadium and city has that buzz - I can only imagine how players feel leading up to and after a victory.

The 2008 and 2010 AFC Championship made Pittsburgh feel like a winter wonderland and yea - you have to know how to dress but if you do it right (pocket warmers - uhhh, you know what I mean) you watch legendary moments unfold. I can't wait for Heinz to be rocking again in January - it's coming sooner now with two 8-8 years under our belts - bank on it! Make your way to Heinz in January - even if you prefer the home experience like me - start putting away the dough now! Worth it IMO.

There is nothing like watching a game in person. I remember my first one at three rivers like it was yesterday. I couldn't belive how awesome it was to be there. To feel the energy of the crowd and see the players right in front of you. It loojs real instead of just another tv show. You can see how difficult it really is. On tv everything looks small and easy. Im sorry but nothing beats being at a real game.
As for green bay, the wind chill can dip down to -45 today and that is why people are hesitant but they still sold out.
