I definitely didn't see a shutout coming, but we're going to win gold. I'll be cheering for you guys tomorrow against Finland!

Once again, North America dominates.

Honestly though, that was a fantastic game. Absolutely fantastic.
Congratulations, Canada! I finished watching the game at my hair stylist's salon. Thank God she's a huge Pens' fan and had the game turned on.

To be honest, yesterday's loss by the U.S. women broke my heart more than today's game by the men. They had the gold in the palm of their hand and let it slip away. It was so heart wrenching, and I felt so badly for them.

Good luck going for the Gold!

This article sums up my impression of the game - once Canada went up 1-0 it seemed that the game was not much more in doubt than when Canada went up 2-1 on Latvia on Wednesday

Canada smothers Team USA, 1-0, continues inexorable Olympic march

This felt like a blowout. It wasn’t, of course. Canada’s men’s hockey team only beat the U.S. 1-0, and so Team USA was in the game right to the end. But the Canadians sucked the life out of the Americans, minute by minute. This was an asphyxiation....

If they played this tournament 10 times, Canada would not win all 10. It just seemed that way on Friday.

In the sports bar where I was watching one of the few big cheers was when the U.S. broke up what was shaping up as a breakaway late in the third period - that says something

No knock on the U.S. - Canada was just that smothering today

Yep. I was stunned at how the Canadians swarmed the puck and completely smothered the U.S. players with such ease. The U.S. had no answer and never got into any kind of rhythm passing and handling the puck. It was pure dominance and could have been embarrassing if not for a stellar performance by Quick in the net.

Arrogant Dutch now talking trash after dusting the U.S. and everyone else in speedskating

Dutch speedskating coach Jillert Anema knows how the United States can improve on its Olympic 0-fer on the Sochi ovals -- stop playing sports like football.

"You have a lot of attention for foolish sport, like American football," Anema told CNBC on Friday. "You waste a lot of talent, athletic talent, in a sport where it's meant to kill each other, to injure each other.

"... (The U.S.) is so narrow-minded, and you waste a lot of good talent in a sport that sucks."
