The comparison to Aldon Smith is a real one for Kony. Also, it has your guy Trent Murphy.

Ford will fall all right, right into the Ravens' lap now that you brought it up.

Murphy would be like Kevin Greene... who can play the run.

Careful now, people were getting upset because Murphy was being compared to Clay Matthews because... ya know, white. (Yes, this was a serious issue on some websites. I wish I was kidding.)

I'd be perfectly happy with Murphy as well, but he'd need some coaching with Butler and friends. He needs to tap into the explosive first step when he has his hands in the dirt when he's standing up as well.

Wait... he's white??? Drat.

Really though, he just makes plays. He's always making "the play." Not sure how one measures that, but it's very JJ Watt-esque.

Wait... I meant Mike Vrabel.

Dagnabbit.

Bryce Paup...???

Argh.

(LOL)

Round 2 (46) Pittsburgh Steelers: Loucheiz Purifoy, CB, Florida

The Steelers have to address the cornerback position. Ike Taylor was dreadful this past year, as the receivers he battled - save for A.J. Green, oddly enough - posted season-high totals against him.

A big reason Ike may have stayed around is because Dan Rooney is close to him and apparently regards Ike as someone who can communicate on Mr. Rooney's behalf to the players

This from Ryan Clark

Steelers safety Ryan Clark said on ESPN on Sunday that Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney made it known last season that he didn’t want to hear the N-word in the locker room, either spoken by members of the team or in music played in the locker room.

“Mr. Rooney actually talked to Ike Taylor about it this season. Ike and Mr. Rooney have a very good relationship,” Clark said. “He told Ike, ‘I don’t want you guys using that word.’”
..

“You stopped hearing it immediately that day,” Clark said. “But after a while it came back because it’s the culture. After a while it comes back because this is what these guys have grown up with.”

I am posting this here not to get into the use of the N-word in the NFL but for purposes of noting the relationship between Ike Taylor and Dan rooney

And this is why, sadly, Ike is going to be back.

Why not just switch who covers who? Cortez on #1s , Ike on the 2s and Gay on the 3s.

Because he's going to be another year older. The wheels fell off last season, and there are teams that we're going up against this next year like the Falcons, Saints and Houston that possess two quality receivers that I'm not sure Ike will be able to keep up with. Using Houston as an example, even if Cortez does a great job against Andre, on the other side Ike would be matched up one on one against Hopkins. Hopkins has that burner speed, and how often did we see Ike get beat deep this year?

I love the idea of Kony Ealy in the first round, but my head says it has to be Dennard or Gilbert. Ike just can't do it anymore.
