Three more names added to Dolphins G.M. candidate list

Posted by Josh Alper on January 9, 2014

The names keep coming as the Dolphins prepare their list of candidates for their vacant general manager job.

We’ve already heard that the team has already received permission to speak to Giants exec Marc Ross, Titans exec Lake Dawson and Browns exec Ray Farmer about the job. Now Albert Breer of NFL Network adds three more names to the list.

Per Breer, Steelers director of football administration Omar Khan and Cardinals V.P. of player personnel Jason Licht are expected to interview for the opening created by Jeff Ireland’s departure earlier this week. Breer also reports that Dolphins assistant general manager Brian Gaine is also going to interview for the next job up the ladder soon.

Like the previously reported candidates, Khan, Licht and Gaine have made the interview rounds as general manager jobs have opened up around the league in recent years without being tabbed. Their chance to change that starts when the Dolphins open the interview process on Friday.

Good call - Dolphins also are interviewing Kyle Shanahan for the vacant offensive coordinator slot

That would amuse me. I know a couple Fins fans. One hates the Shannhans (thinks Mike teaches his players to play dirty) and another jokingly wanted the Skins to hire Kyle to replace Mike as HC. But yeah I agree with you guys. Miami's not run very well. It's honestly kind of sad since back in the day they were one of the better organizations in the league. I remember a point when they had more wins than we did since the merger.

Yeah, they haven't been remotely relevant since Jimmy Johnson was there.

Yeah. They ocassionally like Tony Sparano's first year will tease but they just aren't smartly run. It makes me I have to say despite my disappointment in our past few years, I'm glad we have the Rooneys, Colbert, and Tomlin who know you build a team through the draft. That Wallace contract is going to bite them.

Not to mention they encourage asswipe louts like Richie Incognito to be even bigger asswipe louts and engage in borderline criminal activity.

Omar Khan is just being interviewed to satisfy the Rooney rule. Doubt he goes anywhere. And that's not necessarily a good thing.

No. Harassment, threats of physical violence, and reported extortion are.

Didn't realize that needed explained.

Ah yes, yet another one who believes minorities only receive opportunities through handouts and not through earning it. Stay classy, Poop.
