You do realize that the Rooney rule requires you to interview at least one minority candidate for GM positions? And minority GM candidates are harder to come by than coaching candidates. So unfortunately Khan has become the token go to guy to satisfy the rule. He's more of an accountant and doesn't seem to know much about player personnel so I doubt most teams would make this guy their GM.

Yes, I know what the Rooney rule is. You do know that Omar Khan has been with the organization since 2001 and that we've gone to 3 Super Bowls (winning 2) and won 6 division championships during his tenure? He must know something. I mean, you're not suggesting that the Rooneys only keep him around as a token, pay him a salary for nothing but being a minority, and have had a winning tradition in spite of him, are you?

Yeah, you're right. He's a bum and you're not at all letting your blind prejudices cloud your judgement.

Khan is the reason we are able to keep multiple All Pro's on both offense and defense. Yes, it creates constant restructuring but that is the Steeler way. We are going to release aging vets when the time comes anyways. We have proven we don't hold onto anyone too long. We have lost free agents but I cant recall a valuable player we have cut that has gone on to become a star somewhere else. Khan has done a great job. What else does he need to do to?

Honestly if we predicted the cap would rise a certain amount, wed be perfectly fine instead of being in cap hell.

But considering how much we had to cut to be under the cap, I think he has done an outstanding job keeping a solid nucleous of talent.

But we got fucked a few years ago. Hey if thats what it took to 3 SB apparences then it was worth it.

great point! This organization really looks at the long term goal, you can see it in the way they draft and keep players and coaches around.
