Always listen to Ian Rapoport.

He says that Butler will absolutely be interviewed, unless Butler isn't.

Tomlin is a 3-4 guy. he will keep running the defense he is most familiar with coaching.

The "Tampa 2" is a defensive strategy that was popularized by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It was designed by then head coach Tony Dungy, defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, and then linebackers coach Lovie Smith. Dungy first learned the Cover 2 while playing for the Steelers in the late 70s and eventually developed this new form of the Cover 2 in Tampa.

The Tampa 2 was a very easy scheme and easy to learn and teach. The only requirement was that the players be fast. As long as they were fast, teh scheme worked.

this is what I'm trying to point out draft fast players but them in an easy scheme and get them on the field. loose a free agent plug in another player. salary cap friendly.

Jarvis Jones could be the type of LB to drop deep and make the cover two into cover three. Jones kinda reminds me of Lambert.

dungy learn the cover two in Pittsburgh Tomlin learned it from Dungy now Tomlin is in Pittsburgh. the other coach the Rooney's interviewed was Ron Rivera from Lovie Smith / Dungy cover two defense.

keeping Butler doesn't mean Steelers stick with the 3-4. Butler is just a assistant coach Tomlin the headcoach doesn't mean he'll let Butler call defense the way he let LeBeau.

Tomlin would of been stupid to mess with the LeBeau defense when he came in now the players are old and played out time for Tomlin to put his defense in.

James Harrison is reporting:
Butler don't got no interest in not playing in no Tennessee, whether he has no family in no Tennessee or he doesn't 't got no family in no Tennessee.

Another swing and a miss by Ian Rapoport

Former Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton has accepted the Titans defensive coordinator job, a league source told cleveland.com.

That's great news for us, Horton knows how to coach 'em up. Thankfully he's now out of the division.

On a related topic, what in the world are they doing down there in Cleveland? I just read on ProFootballTalk that Gase is now leaning towards staying with Denver and not even bothering to interview with anyone. Who are their fall backs at this point? The 9th or 10th option? This whole charade has blown up in their faces.

They're putting all of their eggs in the Gase basket. If he stays in Denver, Munchak might be their best option.

How are they going to sell that one to the fan base? You fire Chudzinski after one year and cite "lack of improvement" as the reason. Munchak progressively got worse with the Titans as his tenure went on. 9-7 to 6-10 to a minimal improvement of 7-9. Yeah the Browns lost all their games down the stretch, but they were either close losses or losses to good teams. The Titans down the stretch went 3-5 and could only beat the Raiders, Jaguars and Texans, all awful football teams.

I just think there is no way they can turn this into a positive and ignite the fan base. Unless McDaniels(a Super Bowl winning McDaniels) does a 180(and by no means do I think McDaniels is a good head coaching option), or they can pull a guy like Quinn or Roman, they're pretty much screwed in the court of public opinion.
