Harboughs need to be handled gently, they tend to cry and whine easily. But he should be fined for the actions on the ref. A day without his binky or something relevant to his day to day activities.

NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said on Tuesday's edition of NFL Network's "NFL Total Access" that Tomlin should have been flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

"Any time a player or a coach from the sideline is in this white area, that's a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct," Blandino said. "If they interfere with the play, it could be what's called a 'palpably unfair act.'"
The rules are the rules. Harbaugh didn't get flagged for being over the white line during a live play, Harbaugh got flagged for getting in the ref's face and crying like a bitch after the play was already over.

And I won't even mention the other member of his staff walking onto the field as well (behind and to the left of Harbaugh):

One of the biggest problems with Goodell's NFL is selective enforcement of the rules and arbitrary levels of punishment based upon the level of media outrage. I'm personally sick and damn tired of it.

what the heck is going on with Steeler nation here? we sound like a bunch of whiney 10 year olds.. Dont try and compare Tomlins play to Harbaughs... I am sure you can find film of plenty of coaches do what Jimmy did when a play is going on in the end zone. If they say they dont they are probably lying... No ref was even standing near Harbaugh when the play was going on.

Tomlin was picking his butt while Jacoby was near him.. Its really completely different situations..

There was still a 15 yard flag when he went all Michael Johnson and sprinted on the field.

I think the problem people are having is the excessive penalty the Steelers were threatened with. If it weren't for that, nobody would care.

Like Ham said, a lot of people are just upset with how excessive the ruling against Tomlin was...all basically because the ref standing behind him didn't throw a flag.

It's also the build up of how inconsistent the refs have become. The most penalized person in the Tomlin incident should have been the ref standing behind him. I don't know how they deal with refs missing calls and whatnot, but whatever they are doing, it's not working.

Harbaugh broke the same rule as Tomlin did. Simple as that. And there was a ref in the vicinity, a ref that was looking in his direction (you can see him at the right of the picture). Players and coaches crossing the white line, especially to the extent Harbaugh did, distracts the refs, and maybe the players too. We don't need the refs any more distracted than they already are lol.

Also, as someone else mentioned, the flag wasn't thrown when Harbaugh crossed the line...it was thrown after the play was dead and he was in the refs face yelling.

I wouldn't agree with the 9ers losing a draft pick any more than I'd agree with it happening to the Steelers...but it just shows more inconsistencies from the NFL. People are just getting tired of it.

Exactly.
An infraction that EVERY coach commits, but ONLY the Steelers' coach is lambasted for.

If Harbaugh gets a fine, then all is well. If he doesn't, then it's favoritism.

They deal with problems with officials by issuing an apology and then not letting them work the playoffs or championship games.

The ref in the picture isnt look at Jim he is looking at the play.. Its not as simple as that though because Tomlin was in on the play and Jim was at like 25 or 30 yard line.

The refs have been inconsistent for years the biggest difference now is we have a million camera angles, and slow mo to see everything and can say this ref did this wrong or that etc.

The thing with this also as mentioned with the camera angles no one noticed it while the game was going on, it had to be after the fact with a picture, unlike with Tomlins play..

Everyone wants to say the rules say this the rules say that. But in reality there is a rule broken every play and there not called.

It is what it is.. Steelers have gotten away with plenty over the years and so have many other teams. Its always easier to be the Monday morning JV arm chair quarterback
