Default Taamu or Fangupo

I understand Taamu was a moron with is DUI/running over police issues, but maybe we should have kept him . . .

"Hebron Fangupo, whom the Steelers kept over 2012 fourth-round pick Alameda Ta’amu played just 13 snaps this season. Ta’amu, who signed with Arizona after getting released by the Steelers at the end of August, played 224 snaps at defensive tackle for a team that led the NFL in rushing defense."

I really know little about Fangupo, but I do remember alot of people liking the Taamu pick as a good solid replacement at NT . . . now it seems we are in need of a solid NT. However after the idiotic incident I really don't know what the team should have done.

After his drunken rampage, there was no choice for the team to do anything but release him. It's a shame because he's a talented player, but at the same time it's not like he was one of the main reasons Arizona had the league's best rushing defense. Ta'amu was just a rotational player on their defense, Dan Williams is their starting nose tackle and took on the large bulk of the snaps.

It really concerns me that we've had Woods playing as the second team NT throughout camp, and that he got more significant snaps at the end of the season at that position. I don't know if Fangupo has a future with the team or not. This game is played so much in the trenches, you have to win at the line to be a good defense. I would love to see a line of Heyward, Nix, McLendon.

I don't know enough about Ta'amu to really comment on his worth, I can't remember seeing him play.

Yeah, Ta'amu had all kinds of talent. Fangopu is a space eater, but doesn't look like starting material. Sadly, we need to look in the draft of FA.

Al Woods is a guy that should be at end. Hope we get a true NT this spring.

I loved Ta'amu coming out of college. I watch a lot of PAC-12, and Ta'amu was a beast (w/ fluid hips). He got a shoulder injury, and slipped out of R1. In the 2012 draft, all that I wanted was DD, Ta'amu, & Spence.

I got all three!!!
Then... Spence blew out his knee; DD bluster up his knee; and Ta'amu did his Lindsey Lohan impersonation.

Anyway, I don't know why he was let go. He's better than McClendon. Drunker, but a better NT.

Spilt milk... water over the dam... time for the "Nix fix."

It's not going to be long until Ta'amu fucks up and does something stupid again.

Re: Fangupo,

How the hell can you judge what he's really got on 13 snaps.......not encouraging.

Nope, the guy is 28 years old and if he is only getting 13 snaps on a team that really needs a NT.....its not a good sign.

On a similar note, I watched Indy NT Josh Chapman last weekend and he was getting pushed around all over the place. Not many NT's from that draft class panned out.
