Ta'amu wasn't let go after his arrest. that bothered a lot fo people. He was beaten out for a roster spot. That's just the way I remember it.

Ta'amu was just a rotational player on their defense, Dan Williams is their starting nose tackle and took on the large bulk of the snaps.
Uh, they signed him back after his drunken rampage, and released him again.

We let a young starting NT and starting CB on top five defenses get away. Guess who most mock drafts have us taking - NT or CB.

This organization is crapping the bed lately.

Ta'amu started 3 games due to DW being injured. He played the 200+ snaps as a backup, and essentially had a different role (1 gap player). He combined for 7 tackles.
I'd question it was that bigger a loss, tbh....and I actually liked him.

In fact I'm trying to pimp us for this draft on Danny Shelton - another Washington kid who is apparently a more athletic version of Ta'amu.

Lewis, by some accounts just wanted to goto NO, so there's an arguement we couldn't of signed him if we'd tried.

Perhaps not on Lewis, but he shouldn't have been sitting behind guys like Gay and McFadden for so long. Didn't know what we had until too late.

Except Ta'amu isn't starting for the Cardinals at all. Dan Williams is, and he's a far better player.

Everyone here knew that Keenan Lewis was a great player. We just couldn't retain him because a) no cap room, and b) he wanted to return home to New Orleans.

Lewis was a mess psychologically.

He smashed a glass movie-poster thing, after the preseason game against the NYGiants. At the time, Tomlin said: "He's hurting."

Tomlin always said that Lewis had the best physical tools of any of the CBs on the roster, but the worst mental stability. And, with a CB, mental fortitude is second only to speed.

Tomlin was patient with Lewis. Most coaches would have cut him. Then... Lewis got his act together, seized the starting job (finally)... and left.

sorry, but there are still members of this forum that think Lewis was a guy that only had one good year, or is just a "system cb" and will be back in 3 years when he fails in New Orleans. (Just like Bryant McFadden or Will Gay)

No need to bash Keenan Lewis now, and say it was a given he was going to leave. The Steelers didn't prioritize him.

They'll correct their decision making and ADMIT the mistake of this past offseason by cutting Woodley and re-signing Worilds.
