Default Nose Tackle To Need with New NFL

Ok Maybe not the "New" NFL but the NFL right now.

Three of the 4 teams left are where they based on how well their RUNNING games are (NE, SEA & SF)

In a passing league, if you can't run the ball, you can't win. (just look at us, we didnt start winning until we started running, even with Ben's great year)

With that being said, we now need to be able to STOP the run.

We did not have a run stuffing NT this yar and our entire defense suffered.

In my opinion NIX is the guy

He won't get past New England (at 30).

Wilfork is in his tenth season, and is coming off of an injury.

as i stated in the other thread...i am all in on nix! but if the steelers feel they have what they need in mcclendon...then the steelers definitely have to address the other defensive end position with tuitt, donald....or even hageman!!!

We can move McClendon outside to an End. It worked for Seals, Buckner, Von Olhoffen, Heyward. All were NT in college or in the NFL that moved outside and were productive.

any chance I can mention Buckner and Seals I will.

I agree with selecting Nix, I can also see us going other directions in the first too, but McClendon was getting pushed around far too much for me this year, I think he'd be better at DE. Too bad Ta'amu didn't workout, or even Fangupo, because I would like to use that first round pick on some other need like FS, CB, WR, ILB, or TE. If they don't get Nix, maybe they can get that Carrethers kid from Arkansas St. in the 5th round.

If they think Nix can be as good as Hampton then we need to grab him. I have been saying for years that the NT is the centerpiece of the 3-4 and that we needed to draft an early round one. Most of the people here told me it was a waste because McClendon was a step up from Hampton in his final year but obviously that wasn't the case

NT (Nix seems to be the consensus pick on this board), or best secondary player on the board in the first round and I'll be happy. Need to shore up the D.

Question is whether you put a #1 pick on a player who is off the field 1 out of 3 downs

3 of the 4 remaining teams also play the 4-3 defense so having a running game may not be the only area in which the pendulum is swinging back
