People are way overvaluing the NT based on our rush defense slipping for one season. Its documented in hard statiatical fact that with McClendon in at NT the team gave up 2.26 ypc. Well below league average.

The team was forced into way more Nickel this season when McClendon was forced off the field. The average went way up from there. Well near 4.7 ypc.

Moral of the story? McClendon is excellent at plugging up the middle on 1st and 2nd downs. We got victimized on pass heavy formations when he had to come off the field.

Losing the signal caller for your defense and breaking in rookie ILB's is a major part of the break down in run D. For what its worth, Hood was the worst individual graded out against the run.

I do not see NT as a need unless Al Woods walks in FA. DL is a need overall but that is it.

I think our first round pick could have more to do with who can contribute early on? And if they can ckntribute early on then who will it allow us to cut or massively restructure to make cap space.

A guy like Darqueze Dennard allows you to move on from Ike and save roughly 9 million this season.

Just throwing that out there.

"The Steelers allowed 1,849 yards rushing this season on 433 rushes. However, seven of those runs went for 20 yards or more and they totaled 354 yards. Remove those seven runs and the defense allowed a much more respectable 3.51 yards per rush. That 3.51 would have been good for second best in the league behind only the the New York Jets. Seven runs made that big of a difference."

they finished 21st overall in defensive rushing yds! its not just the rushing yds either! its the fact that there is no pass rush...and that is a direct result of the inefficiant defensive line play!!! also, if you give a qb all the time in the world in the pocket...he will tear your secondary apart!!! bad d-line play=no pass rush=torched secondary!

McLendon was not the problem. the rest of the LBs/DL were shit against the run early in the season. Tbh the whole team was shit early in the season.

Our offense finished 20th but everyone is praising the offense...

I love nix as a nt but

Coming off injury scares me a little for a big guy and do u think he would be a day one starter on the dline....doesn't it take awhile for the steelers to normally start dline guys

However if the steelers think they need to find a replacement at nt then this would be the year to take it meaning draft nix..behide him there isn't much in this draft or next" so if we don't take him I would think we would see McClendon at nt for the future

When did Casey Hampton ever positively add to our pass rush? The answer is never.
