At least he plays with heart because, god forbid, we draft a 21 year old safety that plays with talent, speed and intensity rather than "heart".

Troy is soaking cap space. You want him to earn over 10 million dollars next season because he made plays in the past?

Absolutely no way I could take seeing TP wearing another uniform in a Heads and Shoulders commercial.

I don't think he'll earn that much, he'll probably be restructured. He made plays last season and he stayed injury free. He was asked to play run heavy all year because of the lack of depth at ilb. That's a heavy load.

One thing is for sure, Clark is done, and if TP is let go there will be no leadership in the back. Baby steps.

I hope he doesn't get restructured. The whole reason why we're in cap hell right now is because we keep restructuring contracts. My biggest gripe with him is his contract - 10.9 million can get us Jairus Byrd, too. That not only solves the Safety problem, but the leadership one as well. Now, there's a snowballs chance in hell that we sign Byrd, but there are other options than us signing a guy that is passed his prime and soaking a huge cap number. Even if he were to restructure, we have to pay the piper eventually. It's a matter of when, not if, and there's not going to be a better time to let him move on than this off season. A savings of over 8 million would actually give us breathing room on the cap. Combined with Ike and Woodley, and you're talking over 20 million.

My point is keeping Troy or telling him to see if he can do better elsewhere won't improve a very bad defense

I guess it was nice to have Noll retire as a Steeler too, except that he hung around about ten years longer than he should have.
It's a nice idea to have everyone retire as a Steeler, but does that apply even if their performance falls through the basement?
If making the pro bowl based on performance, and leading AFC Safeties in passes defended (never mind pancaking pulling offensive guards in run defense as seen vs green bay) constitutes "falling through the basement", then YES... they should retire as a steeler.

Next thing you know, steelerfans will be trying to convince everyone that dick lebeau is suffering from Alzheimer's and has forgotten everything he has learned after 50 years in the NFL.

Oh wait....

Where do you keep getting this idea that they want to keep him to play ILB??? OR that he will even be retained for $10 mil?

Nobody has even suggested either.

Its time to let it go.

You are fully embracing hater status and it is rather embarrassing.

If we cut everyone we can save as much $$$ as the browns, bucs, bungles, and jaguars! Then we can accumulate top 5 draft picks for the next 8 years!

CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!
