Default Gary Kubiak hired as Ravens offensive coordinator

Not good - assuming his health is OK, Kubiak would be a real get for the Ravens

Unless of course we should rely instead upon the always accurate Ian Rapoport

No wonder Kirby Wilson fell out of the running - wonder if Kirby got a Rooney Rule interview with bonus points for Harbaugh getting to quiz him on what the Steelers are up to?

Default Re: Gary Kubiak “favorite” for Ravens offensive coordinator

kubiak was linked to them almost 2 weeks ago. kirby was certainly a rooney rule visit.

its a shame that i was almost rooting for the wheels to fall off the todd haley experiment so we could land kubiak or norv turner this off season.

oh well... a day late and a dollar short (landing munchak can be the short term equalizer hopefully).

This was a great hire by Baltimore. Hiring Kubiak can only really mask the problems for the Ravens though, as they still don't have a legitimate number one receiver and Ray Rice's wheels seemingly falling off. I think you can say he's easily better than Caldwell though.

I think this is what separates the Steelers and Ravens from a team like Cincinnati. They may have had a good year or two, but that front office is too dysfunctional to have sustained success over long periods of time. I think the AFC North sends two teams to the playoffs next year, but I don't think the Bengals are one of them.

I don't think they've hired him yet, but I agree with what you're saying.

It's official

Gary Kubiak Hired As Ravens Offensive Coordinator

The Ravens landed the big fish.

Head Coach John Harbaugh announced Gary Kubiak as his new offensive coordinator Monday, capping an exhaustive search with a coach considered to be one of the best play callers and brightest offensive minds in the NFL....

Kubiak is bringing Rick Dennison with him to be quarterbacks coach. Dennison served as Kubiak’s offensive coordinator for the past four years in Houston. ...

Kubiak has long run a very effective scheme that was highly respected by Harbaugh and Baltimore. He relies on the zone running scheme and a lot of play-action passing to open up big plays down the field. The Ravens studied the Texans’ running approach before the 2012 season and assimilated some of their practices into their own scheme.

Props to Harbaugh and Ozzie Newsome for these hires

And to Ian Rapoport for once again tweeting misinformation

Pretty sure when the Ravens first signed Vonta Leach, they stole the Texans' zone blocking scheme. It worked pretty well until Matt Birk retired.

I really like this hire as long as Flacco doesn't turn into Matt Schaub, though he was pretty close to it this year.

Very good hire.

Any replacement for Caldwell was going to be an upgrade, but Kubiak is a legit OC.
