I hope we could trade him for a young gun that hasn't won a single meaningful game yet!

It's understandable why Rodgers (freakish talent) and Manning (ruthless efficiency) are ahead of BR7, but Brees and Brady?

Those two are on there purely for reputation.

Brees usually wins games by getting ahead early. How often does he have to make a 'fourth quarter comeback'?

Brady's lost too much of his 'A game' to be ahead of BR7 (although BR7 will soon, too). While Manning has, also, he doesn't force too many deep throws and instead relies on no-huddle and quick reads to best his opponents.

If nothing else it should be:

1. Rodgers
2. Manning
3. Luck
4. BR7/Brady (tie)
6. Brees? (Honestly, I'd want Wilson over Brees at this point)

One gripe:
Rodgers is something like 18 games below .500, in games decided by 3 points or less.

(That is not clutch.)

Excellent point.

I hadn't thought to look up the actual stats, but rather was going by 'gut instinct'.

[In my book, and] On a pure talent level the 1-2-3 right now are Rodgers-Wilson-Luck with Roethlisberger fighting Luck/Wilson for a spot.

Those are the four that are elusive enough to evade pressure, bold enough to make a throw while under pressure and who can see an opening or have enough confidence to say, 'screw it, I can make this throw'.

Manning is a slow burn/method guy; death by a thousand cuts. He's not going to kill you in one play unless one of his receivers gets YAC.

The other four guys can get the ball 25+ yards downfield or otherwise pull a play out of their rear ends though.

I think the best bet for that was 2008-09-10. They won in '08, 2009 was screwed by Arians and 2010 we made the SB but came up short.

I don't think we will see as good of a team around Ben to support him before he retires.

Hopefully I am wrong, though.

Oh my oh my. Im new to these boards but come on, when we talk clutch, does the name eli not ring a bell ? The dude has 2 sb rings, and both are 4th quarter comebacks. Being the under dog team in every game of those playoff runs. I do admit, big ben is very clutch, not taking anything from him. Yes eli had a bad year last year. It happens. But that doesnt mean we remove him from the top 5 clutchest players in the nfl?! Eli is number one, big ben is in top 3 when it comes to clutchness

No im not, im a bengals fan to be honest. But i dont mind the giants. Anyone to beat the pats in the pats twice in the superbowl and outperform tom when it comes to clutchness, is fine with me. I just joined the steelers forum because alot of my friends (from cincinnati somehow) are steelers fans. And ive been checking out your forums for a cpuple days now. Joined today after a few drinks and thought id put up some good, friendly, debates lol

Eli definitely belongs in the conversation. But it's just as important to have every player on the team at their best in the final minutes. The QB gets a lot of the credit, but the whole team has to be solid.
