Well of course. I bet they've all drank and smoked cigarettes too.

Pretty much everyone I know who's smoked pot has drank or smoked cigarettes before anything else, with some it's pain pills...stuff that is available in the immediate household. Those things just never get highlighted as "gateway drugs" because they are legal.

Now as far as using pot and moving onto harder stuff, that would decrease with legalization...because guess what, the local pot shop isn't going to try and get you to buy some meth or heroin like a drug dealer might.

We can always speculate on who might be among Clark's teammates who unwind or manage pain with marijuana

An outside linebacker who has needed to manage pain for leg injuries since 2011 and might be packing on weight due to regarding a gallon container of ice cream + a dozen donuts as a light snack after sparking up comes to mind

That is exactly it right here as to what caused it being illegal.

Ignorance.

Most of it was portrayed by William Randolph Hearst in his papers. He had a paper mill and published a newspaper. He was competing directly against hemp production to produce paper, and as everyone now knows hemp is a superior fiber to just about anything.

So he campaigned against marijuana. He filled his newpapers with lies of white women being raped by a gang of mexicans high on marijuana and other nonsense.

Ignorance of the common person for not doing their own due diligence and educating themselves.

Ignorance by the government for not verifying any claims.

The war against drugs is just as ignorant. It never should have been "JUST SAY NO". It should have been "JUST SAY KNOW" and educate yourself of what you are doing and consuming. If you do decide to do it, do it with responsibility and respect.

Many are just now finding the true benefits of some "drugs". Mushrooms, DMT, MDMA and LSD amongst others are now being found to truly benefit the human being. They can treat even the most harsh PTSD and can help those with cancer able to better cope with their condition. Ibogaine has been found to easily help even the worst of addictions like Heroin and Alcohol without any of the negative side effects.

The war on drugs will never win. Not only can some of these substances be used to heal the mind, they also can heal the body and the soul. Humans have an inherent desire to search their own consciousness. And we can't because some dummy with a make-believe badge stamped "NO" on a piece of paper.

It is only a primitive, un-educated and un-evolved society that will hold back progress and evolution of the human species because something makes you feel funny.

Lol... same here. I can't recall ESPN being so enamoured with a pro athelete- turned talking head.

I'm guessing Ryan will be able to write his own ticket as soon as he hangs em up, and ESPN may write him a big enough check to facilitate the decision.

Sure it is commn knowledge that it goes on league wide but for an active athelete to talk about it so candidly can not only raise eye browse but possibly open up dialogue as well

I have never heard or thought of the William Hurst angle, but I have visited Hearst castle in Cali and now it makes all the sense in the world.

There is much more $$$ to be made in demonizing a wild growing weed that takes virtually no processing, than legalizing its use and existence.

I smoked reefer for about 26 years before quitting 13 years ago. Alcohol came before the reefer and I used it just as I did the cigarettes that I quit 3 years ago.

This drug has been used as a tool for locking folks up over the years IMO.
