Pretty much.

Look at Vilma for the Saints. He was suspend for 2013, so his contract was essentially pushed back a year to 2014. However, the Saints still paid him roughly $3 million in 2013. Any prorated bonuses must still count, and any earned workout or league year bonuses still count against the cap. In Rice's case, they would still owe him his $4.75 million proration for this season.

Suspended players don't count on the opening day 53 man roster. Because players get paid weekly, the weeks they don't play get taken off their cap hit. So let's say Rice doesn't play for 4 games, his cap hit is 13/17ths of the original.

If Ravens cut Ray Rice right now, they get hit with an addtional $5.5 million dead money hit this year. A June 1st cut saves them $4 million this year, but creates a $9.5 million dead money hit in 2015.

No mater what happens to Ray Rice, he will count $14.25 million against the Ravens cap eventually. They will always owe him that in terms of salary cap.

Rice lost 15 lbs over the offseason was fat, and probably hip injury is healed. Rice if he plays will have a good year.
The thing about a trade is they have to give something up in return. Not exactly an ideal situation for them. As you've said, they have already given up next year's 5th rounder to acquire Zuttah. Do they really want to keep sacrificing valuable draft picks? Everyone knows Ozzie Newsome loves to build through the draft with as many picks as he can get, often trading back to gain more picks. I don't think he'll want to continue to sacrifice future picks.

Locking up current players long-term doesn't really help improve their team now or solve their running back issues. They also have to prove their o-line issues are solved for it to matter anyway, even if Rice is healthy, in shape, and able to play. Their line was piss poor last year. Saying he will definitely have a good year is a bit premature.

Budda, they added Zuttah a solid C..zero sacks in two years. Osmele is healthy..he is lifting and tossing 500 lb tires. So you have Monroe, Osmele, Zuttah, Yanda and a question mark at RT or trade for a Guard and move Osmele to RT. They already have 3 comp picks for 2015, not to mention the 4 they got this year. They are in trade talks with Eagles for adding G All Pro G Mathis and likely to sign released TE Daniels from Houston to go with Kubiak and his tight end coach. They have 2 3rds this year and 2 fourths. Ravens secretly prefer Rice gets suspended for the year save the $. They now are about 8 million under the cap as of now. Chris Johnson was just released as well. After the dust settles Rice likely gets 2 game suspension...maybe 4. First time offense.

Its different in Rices case because if he is incarcerrated he is not owed any bonus money can be reclaimed and of course weekly salary. Vilma was not jailed. I doubt Rice will be either, Btw. It was reported on the NFL network and Sirius radio. Rice wont be cut. He will serve likely 2-4 game suspension. Most likely 2.

I won't bother with most of the wrong things you posted, so I'll just address the two things you completely made up:

-The Ravens are only $4 million and change under the cap

-There is literally no way to predict compensatory picks for 2015 yet

Considering he hasnt been tried yet, that's still a pretty big if. And the process is not automatic. The team has to file to recoup any paid money.

Or maybe the prosecutors said they would not take a plea in which the parties would jointly recommend no jail time? When Ray said no then he got indicted on a charge the evidence supports (when he was arrested and initially charged the prosecutors presumably did not have as well developed a case to support the charges in the indictment)

Some judges might call bullshit on beating up your girlfriend (now wife) and then arguing no time should be served because it will "destroy" Rice's family. He is not going to serve 3 years but the prosecutors may not be amenable to agreeing to recommend probation.

You will admit getting married the day after the indictment looks shady?

The Ravens after Zuttah redid his deal and Signed longterm are a hair under 7 miillion today. The Ravens are +3 in comps for 2015. Losses Artur Jones, corey Graham, Michael Oher and James Ihedigbo but loose 1 pick for the safety they Signed...no idea what round picks they recieve until next owners meetings. They also got à 7th rounder for McKinnie trade last year for 2015. So as of now they have 10 picks in 2015. Of course Rice is a fluid situation, but if incarcerated
(Highly doubt it) they can go after his signing bonus $...it isnt automatic of course but a jailed félon likely wont be supported by the NFLPA for female assualt, NFL is all about marketing and image and Women is now who they are marketing to. BUT, it wont matter,
He will likely serve 2-4 games and never see jail.

I've heard that Zuttah is inconsistent at times although I will concede he has to be an upgrade over Gradkowski. Yanda had a drop-off last year. We'll see if Osemele returns to form. RT is definitely the biggest question mark. That and depth. I'm sure they will be better, but I'm not sure how much worse they could be.

I agree Kubiak should be an upgrade at OC for them. The problem is they still have Flacco throwing the football.

Chris Johnson? What the hell has he done the past couple of years? That doesn't scare me.
