Maybe - but the minor altercation may have occurred in the room - I would think even pro athletes usually do not get so out of control that they beat up their girlfriend in public

Update - you called it - my bad - when a man is being disrespected he needs to straighten his woman out immediately, regardless of the time and place

Casino security called officers to the Revel Casino at about 2:50 a.m. Saturday after a domestic dispute between Rice and Janay Palmer that was recorded by video surveillance, according to a statement from police. Footage appeared to show both parties involved in a physical altercation.

Someone should have told Santonio Holmes

Wait a minute, a Baltimore Raven named Ray? This girl is lucky to be alive.

Note the use of the disclaimer "usually"

Santonio keeps it real - most pro athletes would not do this either

Police stopped Mr. Holmes after being told at a 3 p.m. roll call that a late-model SUV with an out-of-state license plate might be driving through the Hill District with a "large amount of narcotics." The information pertained to an ongoing investigation.

An hour later, officers Thomas Gorecki and John Kusenko pulled over Mr. Holmes' black SUV with Florida license plates for an "investigatory stop" at Centre Avenue and Mario Lemieux Place because it matched the general description from roll call.

Zone 2 Cmdr. George Trosky said neither Mr. Holmes nor his vehicle were related to the narcotics investigation.

"It's completely unrelated," Cmdr. Trosky said. "You know what, it was just his bad luck."

Mr. Holmes did not have his driver's license but handed over his registration and insurance paperwork. Officers said they smelled marijuana in the SUV. Officer Kusenko asked Mr. Holmes if he had been smoking marijuana in the SUV that day.

"No," Mr. Holmes told officers, according to the affidavit, "but yesterday I was."

Update #4: A witness who saw the altercation at Revel claimed that Rice hit Palmer "like he punched a guy, knocked down and dragged her out of the elevator by his feet" before security arrived. The witness characterized the dispute as more than a "minor incident."

Any comments from Hines Ward yet?

Rice has been fairly drama free off the field during his NFL career, which enabled him to do things like be smug when other players get into trouble. For instance, when Hines Ward was arrested for a DUI in 2011, Rice took to social media to proclaim Ward’s arrest to be “not a good look” then lectured the former Steelers receiver on the responsibility of being a role model.
“People look up to you, Hines,” said Rice, who is hosting a football camp at Towson University this week. “You just were on TV with Dancing with the Stars. Ravens fans were upset that you won Dancing with the Stars but they still watched you. That shows your charisma and character. You’ve got a legacy in the NFL that no one can take away from you. But if you hurt somebody drunk driving, that takes away a lot.”
Some explained that Rice is especially sensitive to drunk driving offenses as his cousin was killed by a drunk driver in 1998, though he somehow neglected to publicly shame Donte Stallworth when the two were teammates in 2010. Nevertheless, it should be easy to find someone who has been affected by spousal violence to come forward and get holier-than-thou on Ray Rice not that his immaculate character is finally being called into question.

Hines was extremely fortunate to be offered guidance from this paragon of goodness.

I guess knocking his fiancée unconscious doesn't fall under his "moral code".

I had forgotten about Rice lecturing Hines.......

Ray Rice's cause in Baltimore has been anti-bullying. I'd say hitting a woman would qualify as bullying behavior.

I was gonna bring this up. I actually liked Rice okay for a Raven before this incident came to light even though I felt he was being way judgmental towards Ward considering whom some of his teammates were and are.
