The cops are acting like douchebags but "fat fuck pigs" come on man. I happen to work in law enforcement in a correctional capacity, you get tired of getting called derogatory crap like that or hearing it for that matter. These guys definitely overstepped their boundaries though. That much I can agree with.

let people jaywalk next thing you know they'll be breaking into cars and shooting cops.

got to nip it in the bud before these people get out of control.

hate to see downtown Austin turn into gangland.

This is a great video. Funny, sad, scary, and infuriating all at the same time.
Too bad this guy didn't have any legal recourse at the end. The status quo is NOT justice!

Yeah, I can't believe people would insult a couple of respectable officers of the law; performing their duties in such an honorable and diligent manner. You'd think THEY were the jackbooted (or is that toe-footed) thugs!

"Pig" is a broad insult for all who work in law enforcement just like the N word is an insult to black people. These officers are idiots. I'm not defending them. I'm just being honest, I don't like the term Pig. When I see two black people commit a crime in the news I don't toss about the N word, when I see an Asian commit a crime in the news I don't throw around racial insults. Pig itself isn't race related, rather it's based on people who work in the law enforcement profession. Doesn't matter if you work at the county, state, or federal level you still get called that. Hey I got thick skin, I get insulted for a living, I just thought I'd put a little perspective on the use of that word towards law enforcement because I'm sure I'm not the only officer on these boards.

Yeah these officers are morons no doubt about it. Arresting someone for jaywalking and refusing to give up her ID is about as ridiculously unnecessary as it gets. I completely agree with people being upset about that.

and thank god they got this sober driver off the road...if you can't get em for DWI then at least save face and accuse them of being high on drugs ...... in the mean time 5 drunk drivers probably drove by the cops harassing the sober guy.

Quote:
Man blows 0.00 on breathalyzer, gets arrested for DWI

Back in 2013, Texas resident Larry Davis ran either a red light or stop sign (reports vary) in his Buick in the city of Austin. Despite his insistence that he had had only one drink, he was put in handcuffs and arrested for driving while intoxicated. Then, when he was given a Breathalyzer test by the AustinPolice Department, he blew a 0.00. Nonetheless, as KVUE reports, Mr. Davis spent the night in jail.

While at the station, Mr. Davis agreed to give a blood sample as well, to prove he was not under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. The results would later come back 100% negative. Davis’ attorney, Daniel Betts, told KVUE, “My reaction was just shock that this happened.
The Austin Police Department stands by the arrest, saying they believed Davis showed signs of impairment, that while standing on one leg, he “swayed,” and “needed his arms for balance.” They also suggested that he could have been on marijuana, a drug that wouldn’t necessarily show up in a test. The APD said they’re going by a “take-no-chances” policy. That being said, they did acknowledge how unusual it is that Davis was arrested despite registering a zero on his breath test.
The Statesman reports that people, including Davis’ attorney, Mr. Betts, have characterized Austin PD’s drunken driving arrests as “overzealous.” They noted back in 2011, that Austin’s Travis County has, “dismissed a higher percentage of drunken driving cases than other major Texas counties -- in part because prosecutors said police filed weak charges or prosecutors allowed suspects plead to other crimes."
As for Larry Davis, he will now spend the next few months getting his arrest record wiped clean. In addition to that, he will file a grievance against the Austin Police Department and the officer who arrested him. KVUE notes that as they started to investigate the manner, Travis County prosecutors dismissed the case completely.
