Default Dri Archer

I see alot of people are mock drafting De'anthony Thomas in the late rounds for that speed back and to help with returns. Another guy to consider is Dri Archer from Kent State. Smaller in frame, reminds me of Tavon Austin. He can flat out fly, wont be suprised if hes in the top 5 in the 40 at the combine. He had a great junior year becoming an All-American but had a disappointing Senior year due to various reasons.

#1 in the forty thus far

I'm high on his skill set the problem is finding him touches outside of the return game. He has average hands so a slot WR specialist is unlikely and he's never been used in pass pro so 3rd down back role is unlikely. He has the chance to gone distance though on every play. He has diversionary scheme upside. I'd love to see the steelers take him late if he slips. Maybe put 5-10 lbs more muscle on him and see what you have. Teams have to at least respect him and account for him on every play.

That being said he can back up WR, RB and KR/PR, so filling 3 roles/spots for one contract isn't a bad idea for a cap strapped team. He's gonna get picked in the first 5 rounds easily.

I knew he was going to blow the combine away. It sucks because someone will take flyer on him and probably draft him in the 4-6 rounds and I highly doubt the Steelers would take him before the 7th round. He would have to have special packages to get the ball like you said. Its possible he could develop into a sproles type player but even without that hes still a threat and the fastest human being I have ever seen in person.

I would not be disappointed if they took a chance on him in rounds 5 or 6. He need some polish and an offensive coordinator willing to get creative. I think him and Bell in a split backfield look on 3rd down would be terrifying for opposing fronts. If nothing else he could really help in the return game and be a depth player for several positions.

I think he can play the game at this level. Coaches cant teach speed and running instincts and he has both of those in spades. He'd need to muscle up a bit.
