The FO is playing it safe. If they cant resign worilds then woodley stays but if they resign him then woodley wont be back with the team IMO

9 million for a 8 sack olb? I'd rather spend it in a true area of weakness.

For about $1.25 million more (than Worilds would get) I assuredly would.

Why? Why pay Worilds $9.75 million!?!

Steelers use transition tag on Worilds

With free agency approaching, the Steelers designated OLB Jason Worilds as the transition player.

The Steelers have announced that the team designated linebacker Jason Worilds as the teamís transition player.

Worilds (6-2, 262) was originally drafted by the Steelers in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech. In his career, Worilds has started 21-of-57 regular season games played and registered 121 tackles (90 solo), 18 sacks and three forced fumbles. Last season he set career highs in starts (11), tackles (54), sacks (8) and forced fumbles (2).

By designating Worilds, an unrestricted free agent, as the teamís transition player, Pittsburgh has the right of first refusal to match any offer sheet he may receive from another team.

There's probably 5 free agents I'd rather have besides Worilds.

plus you know, they'll keep Woodley too to flick off our opinions even more!

Not really thrilled with this - I'm guessing somebody will fork over another mil and will that be the difference?

if this is a short-term thing like Sanders was, they aren't being aggressive enough IMO

dump some shit and get it over with already or get serious and make a multi-year signing happen - stop gap shit is gettin old and turnover is happening faster than it ever has . . .WITH YOUNGER GUYS

this surely means 1 or 2 vets are gone if this is the case. WAAAAY too much

I think they can't cut Woodley till after June so all the dead can be split between this year and next year.
