Yes..the Byrd idea is pure craziness. Steelers can't afford him with thier cap and they just don't toss around $ to outside the organization FAs. Byrd will likely be courted by Philly or Baltimore teams with FS needs and cap space.

I tend to not think so) but also be a tremendous leader. Byrd does not come off as the leader type by any means to me, but I admittedly haven't heard too many stories about him nor I have I heard him talk all that much.

I could be wrong about the player, but not about the business practice.
I hear your point... but, Worilds started for half of a season. In other words, we're not talking about Troy or Ward (who actually put in time with the Steelers).

Make sense?

Some said I was crazy for thinking Worilds would get 10 to 11. I never meant a long term contract. Even the steelers front office doesn't know if Worilds is the real deal. Health? Versatility? Play through pain? Why'd it take so long? Let's put a tag on him, see what he can do. More production or more injuries? Either way in a transition period it doesn't matter. The guys they have now are important but they never took hold of the reigns instead leaning on the guys who had already done it. Now those guys are over and the next bunch, some, are taking their entire rookie contracts to get their shit together and expect big pay days.

The really important players haven't even arrived yet. Buckle down front office scouts.
At the same time Harrison's play dropped when Woodley stopped producing.

I don't know where this idea is coming from that our OLB's get consistently doubled, because they don't. The defense is designed to make sure that doesn't happen.

I almost guarantee that Byrd ends up there. Why? Because, I wanted him.

So it goes... so it goes.

Worilds has played plenty of snaps throughout his career, he just hasn't started many games. There's a big difference.

Think Timmons in 08. I don't think he started a game over Foote, but he ended up with more snaps.

Also something to note, the "Worilds is always hurt" meme is way overblown. Dude has only missed seven games in four years, and just one over the past two years.

Guess we just see it different then Teegre. I see the market, timing and player abilities all in Worilds favour and don't see how we'd get him for 6-7million.

Do I think he's worth 10m? No, but I do understand why we've walked the road we have, and I prefer it to the alternatives I mentioned before.

I'm sure when Mack, Barr or another backer in the draft works out hindsight by some will be amazing. However our FO have a plan and they're executing it.

So far it's allowed us to keep one of our best players, at a key position.

He is always hurt. In training camp. Hence his poor development.

I'm not sure how that is relevant in regards to him as a player right now.
