I love the signing but I still want to see bell out there for most of the game 20 plus touches.

I feel good about this signing.

Just seeing the name Blount reminds of the SB days with Santonio Holmes.

How are Blounts hands out of the backfield? That is a place I thought Bell needed to improve so hopefully he worked on it but it never hurts to have a 2nd option in that regard.

I'm not sure, but I think I heard he isn't much of a passing threat. He's mainly a north-south power runner. Bell is good catching passes out of the backfield though, so we don't really have a need there. I'm sure whoever we draft as our 3rd option will be more of a scatback who can provide another passing option anyway.

This is why Patsfans.com is the better source for Patriots information.

Some fans just have their heads firmly planted up their ass.

In their defense, most of them probably tripped and accidentally wedged them up there rushing to jump on the bandwagon back in 2002.

It isn't so much a need but Bell is overrated out of the backfield. He dropped a lot of passes last year. I would rate him as decent. I just did a quick check and it looks like he had the 3rd highest drop rate of any RB with comparable targets (say 50 and above or so).

Don't get me wrong, when he does catch it he knows what to do with it but his hands need some work.

It was his rookie year. They can work on it. I think he'll be fine. As you said, he does know what to do with it once he catches it though. He just needs to settle in to the speed of the pro game and focus a little more.

Well I have preferred MJD over him. But hard to argue with this signing. He's a HUGE upgrade over Felix Jones and Dwyer.
