From Gerry Dulac;

After the starters departed, Mike Adams played most of the game at left tackle and performed very well, especially in protection -- an area where he has struggled.

Granted, Adams was playing against the Giants' second- and third-team linemen, but it was the best he has looked in a long time.

"It feels great to get out there, get my feet wet and get a chance to play for a while," Adams said. "For an offensive lineman, when you get in the game and get to play a lot, it's better because you get into a rhythm."

He must be doing something right.

Yes, this thread is flat out hilarious how much Adams blind hate there is. Dulac is correct that he played well for the most part.

Adams got the 3rd series and pretty much the rest of the game from there on. He did well vs JPP in several occasions, but I saw a couple times where he bent at the waist instead of the knees and lost JPP.

Then he drew Robert Ayers most of the 2nd quarter and handled him, other than a time or 2 I saw him let Ayers get into his body by playing too high.

Adams still needs to develop a good punch and its maddening to me that he doesnt yet. Same with Max Starks....that guy had all the size and talent, but never got any technique until what felt like his 6th season in the league.

I dont see anybody here mentioning how Jason Pierre Paul beat Beachum like a rented mule on Grakowski's first series and almost ended Gradkowski's night early? I dont see anybody citing the number of sacks that Adams gave up?

Whimper, Wallace, Adams will make the team as reserves. After that is not much to choose from as Chris Hubbard clearly didnt look like he could play against starters in the NFL. Browning was sloppy, but might be on par with Hubbard and Wesley Johnson never stood out at all to me.

I totally agree. Our depth issues across the entire offense are very suspect. We better be lucky with injuries this year or it could be a long one.

It amazes me how players abilities translate on the next level. You have someone like Big Ben who played in the MAC, come in and dominate in the pros, than u watch Landry come in, who is the winningst QB in college football at a prime school with prime competition and he sucks worse in his second year than he did his first year.

THAT is why he's so frustrating to watch.

As I said in another thread: Mike Adams is Jon Favreau's character in "Swingers." He's money, so money... but he doesn't even know it. He's got these big bear claws, but can't kill a rabbit.

Me too. Same conclusion.

on the other hand I'm really pleased with the way gilbert progressed. the guy looks awesome. beachum too. looks like we have 2 long-term starters at tackle who play really well. now we're just looking for serviceable backups at tackle. adams is getting outplayed by whimper on that front.

The unfortunate reality.......that's not saying much.

I think most of the "hate" directed at Adams comes from the fact that he was a second round pick.

For that supposed value he fails. Seems to me that we're still straining to see improvement.

I'm not a supporter of him.....I think he gets handled much too easily one on one and his footwork sucks. I'm sure Coach Gonzo and others who study the game could support me or refute me on this with more validity.

Like others have posted, if he wasn't a 2nd rounder he'd be on his way out sooner than later.
