Default Should the Steelers consider keeping only two quarterbacks?

We have a lot of young talent at safety and linebacker who can also cover kicks well.

If you ask me Landry Jones is too easy to pressure, and his accuracy is just okay. I'd rather keep two QB's on the team, a practice squad QB and one of the young guys at at LB or Db in favor of Landry Jones. Thoughts?

Right now we only have one. Who do you want to add?

No. It has no affect on the Gameday roster. It's better to have an inactive guy who knows the playbook, than to pick someone off the streets in November.

Honestly? I'm dead serious. Honestly?

Sign Tebow.

No joke.

Laugh as much as you want but even if he just uses his legs he would not be a bad backup QB at all. I would trust Tebow to win us a game in a pinch over Landry Jones or Gradkowski. He may not be starter material but, REALLY, would you be that scared of handing him the ball if Ben got hurt for a game or two? You have to factor in that even if his passing sucks his running game might make up for it in a pinch. The media storm would be annoying for a little bit but between Manziel and LeBron it might go away fast. And obviously the Steelers are a team that won't perpetuate it.

Don't quote me, but I was under the impression he only wanted to play somewhere he had a shot at starting.

I can't say that it is a bad idea given who our backups are. The good thing is that our receivers are used to taking a "back yard" approach with Ben so it could work well with Tebow in a pinch.

Well - I wouldn't like the attention it would bring.

If there was ever a place he could at least have a career as a backup and as an X-factor though (at least in his younger years) it would be in Pittsburgh

If he seriously thinks he is going to contend for a starting job anywhere - he needs to check his ego. He actually could serve as a #2 H-back and a #3 TE, in addition to being a #2 QB. He is absolutely someone I wouldn't mind having in red zone situations and in 3rd and short. Even as a guy that would help get our defense ready.

It sure would beat one of our other backups - at least the guy brings more to the table - not even saying he has to be used as a weapon X at all, but, the Steelers could do worse

not happening though

If Kirk Cousins was the backup on this team then yes, with Gradkowski and Jones nope.

I would think considering he hasn't even been on a roster for a year that he would take any offer extended to him, especially since the role of Steelers backup QB is one that is likely to see legitimate playing time compared to most backups, but who knows...
