Default Are these big bens stats??? batch's passer rating

are teams stealing bens and the steelers formula for success? probably not but with all the crap we hear about ben not being able to throw for more than 20 times a game check these out. (it is a copy cat league and since ben has been in the league no team has won more games, playoff games, or superbowls or been in more championship games) than the steelers.

p. rivers- 8/11 108 yds 1 td w
m. vick - 10/22 140 yds 2 td w
c. palmer- 13/19 137 yds 0 td w
t. brady- 11/23 163 2td 1 int w

notable:

m. bulger 217 yds w
s. mcnair 181 yds w
m. hasselbeck 210 yds w

more notable:

passer rating through week 1

Philip Rivers SD 133.9
Charlie Batch PIT 126.5
Chad Pennington NYJ 123.2
Kurt Warner ARI 114.8
Donovan McNabb 113.3
David Carr HOU 1 102.1 (loss)
Rex Grossman CHI 98.6
Damon Huard KC 97.9 (loss)
Michael Vick ATL 96.8
Matt Hasselbeck SEA 95.8
Steve McNair BAL 94.8
everybody else 88.7 and below

only batch, warner, and mcnabb, threw 3 tds (tied for league lead)

I wouldn't exactly trademark it the Steelers Formula for Success. Typically the more you run the ball in a game, the greater probability there is that you won the game. I don't see there being a trend starting...it's just the fact that when you're winning or getting good production out of your runningbacks, you simply don't need to pass as much, but when you do pass, it's typically more efficent (hence the higher passer ratings).

I would still expect the Brady's and Palmer's of the league to be throwing 25+ balls a game more often than not.

It seems to make intuitive sense to me that the balance between offense and defense would be tipped in favor of D for the first game or two. Just seems easier for a defense to start the season firing on all cylinders. A lack of gaudy numbers for winning QBs would fit with this theory.

I am curious to know if a statistical analysis would support this. But I have no idea how to find that out.

The one I find most interesting because that is all I have heard threw last season and the offseason, is how Ben "sucks" because he only attempts 20 passes or so. Well look at what the almighty Palmer did!!! I am not going to sit here and say it's bad, becacuse I love that about the Steelers, but obviously teams found out how to win games. It is stuff that we have had to defend forever, and now people can shut up about it.
This was exactly what I pointed out in the Blast Furnace, b ut I'm glad you brought it up again, and it is interesting to see all the other stats too.

yeah, because every team has a rookie qb go 13-0 in his rookie season and win a sb in his 2nd.

bigbensgirl7 gets it.
