I think it downloads itself when you click on a malware banner; it floats and vibrates on your desktop.
I had one banner once, I went to click on the "X" in the upper right, and as my mouse passed over it it moved and instead of Xing out I clicked in the banner space... it took me almost 9 hours with CW Shredder, Hijack This, Spybot, AdAware, and registry editing to get all the crap off my computer. I got something that installed itself as a Windows shell, and it was using System Restore to perpetuate itself on reboot; another one was redownloading itself every time I removed it. Again, the sad part is that if they didn't work they would go away. I wonder, how many people open what they think is a search engine but are using "A Better Internet" instead? |
