NFL fines Thomas: Linebacker Zach Thomas was fined $5,000 by the league for unnecessary roughness against Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch in the third quarter. Game officials did not penalize Thomas in the period, though Thomas did hit Batch when the quarterback slid.

geathers hit was fine, didnt see anything wrong with it .. is football, these pissy ass penalties on protecting the QB are absurd. no wonder the old timers laugh about all the rules in place now. is becoming a joke.

The legaue position the Green was perfect. They pointed out that Green waited too long to start his slide, that the defender was hit in the back and that it appeared that the defender tried his best avoid the hit. The Roger Goddell era starts off perfectly and Batch call should have been in the game but that is football - the refs missed it.
