If Hines Ward was to leave I think you would find your WR cupboard to be an extremely bare one. I keep hearing how great Moss and Owens are - yes they are fantastically talented atheletes - but we are here to win games and Championships.

Who is going to help me do that best?

I would take Torry Holt, Hines Ward and Deion Branch over Terrell Owens any day.

I kind of hope you get him signed.

Word over on SteelerLive is that the sticking point in the negotiations with Ward are over signing bonus. Ward wants $8 million and the Steelers think that's too much. Now I'm not sure how much of this is based on facts since there is no link or even a source listed.
If that is the hold up though, I think they will end up coming to an agreement soon...at least I hope so!

I really do hope it is over soon. Can you even imagine Ward in any other colors besides black and gold. I know I sure can't.

Well he is signed for this year, and I guess we could franchise tag him for next? But I don`t see an eight mil. signing bonus holding the deal up. I feel thats probably fair, I honestly thought it may be more.

Yes. I think the key is what is the window? Could we cut ties right now? Could someone step in and fill his shoes at this momment? No, he on top of his game. But in 4-5 years he will be starting on the down side so like all our players, we have to prepare for the future. I think the one thing that keeps us competive year after year is while we have some icon players, none are fixtures that must remain with the team. So could we find a player to produce similar results in 4 years. Yes, cause we will have to. Tough call, but one to watch.

It would be a tremendous loss. Don't even want to compare it to any other member leaving. Don't even want to think that way.
