So your saying a hockey player never asked for time to heal this early in the season?

Well, it looks as if Ekman is starting to hit his stride - a goal and an assist tonight. In addition to the injury, which appears to be fine, maybe he just needed some time to adjust to playing in the East. We play a tighter-checking, more defense-oriented game in the East, whereas the West is about up-tempo, hard-hitting hockey.

All in all, it was a very solid effort all around from the boys tonight. Staal finally scored a goal that wasn't shorthanded, Crosby had a goal and an assist, and Malkin...oh man, if you haven't seen the highlight of the goal he scored tonight, go to their website and check it out. It was absolutely unbelievable, and...I have to say it...Mario-esque. It was even more impressive watching it live. I think the one Devils' D he faked out is still looking for his jock - LOL! But the most encouraging thing about this game is that they held the Devils to just 22 shots on goal and played pretty sound defense all night. I didn't see too much running around and D getting caught out of position, except for Melichar who forgot - again - to box out his man in front of the net (in this case, Scott Gomez) and allowed him to score the Devils' first goal. I'm hoping they're able to keep that up, and take pressure off Fleury, who BTW was solid again between the pipes tonight.

The FIRST PLACE Penguins. Sounds pretty damn good, doesn't it?

Malkin Goal: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=05RAZ338

Type in three letter code top right corner of screen to download. It's worth it if you want to see one hell of a goal while in hi-def.

As for great/good/so-so/bad.

Everybody either played great, good or so/so last night. Hats off to the team for a great showing.

Thanks for the clip, but I found that it does not play well in any of the standard media players (Windows Media Player, RealPlayer or DiVX Player) - the video plays like it's in fast forward with normal sound. However, it will play fine in VLC Media Player, which is a great little media player that will play literally everything, and it's FREE. Go to http://www.videolan.org to download.

x - you may want to download the cole2k media pack. it's free and will help those files play in media player for you. oh - have you downloaded media player 11? if so, immediately roll back to 10 and i can go further into removing their default codecs if you need me to....

I was on my laptop at the time, so I'll try downloading that, but I have the K-lite Codec Pack on my home PC, which I'm on now, and it still didn't work. Maybe if I wasn't using a 5-year old video card at home, I wouldn't have so many problems, but oh well. It works for me with VLC on both.

heheh - gotta love the old stuff. i highly recommend that cole2k pack, though. it's hands-down the best compilation of codecs around. i think it's cole2k.net, but i'm not entirely sure. let me know if you need any help, though.... :)
