PP struggled minus Sid. Ruutu with the bonehead penalty to give Boston the #3 goal. Tough loss. Time to win these divisional games.

That will provide some BIG help to the Offense.

Welch will be the odd man out when Eaton comes back.
I, for one, hope the Pens keep Ouellet right where he is. I like his style of play, he's a hard worker and a go-getter. No slack out of him. You know who my choice is to send down, XT. The one I call the "waste of a pair of good skates".

Penguins Notebook: Crosby's status for game today remains unclear
Friday, November 24, 2006

By Dave Molinari, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Sidney Crosby skated at Mellon Arena yesterday morning and plans to do it again today on Long Island.

That does not, however, guarantee that he will be in the lineup when the Penguins face the New York Islanders this afternoon at 2:08 at Nassau Coliseum.

Crosby, whose groin muscle was strained in the Penguins' 5-3 victory in Philadelphia Monday, traveled to Long Island with his teammates yesterday, but described himself as questionable for the game today.

He skated for about 20 minutes before his teammates practiced and reported that his groin felt "better than [Wednesday]," but acknowledged that "it's still not where it needs to be."

Skating the way he did yesterday obviously is a major step, but isn't necessarily a definitive test.

"I tried to put it in some positions that I thought I could be in during games," Crosby said. "Just skating out there isn't really pushing it; that's normal activity.

"When you're in a game, your body's in a lot of positions. I've been caught in some of those positions before, and I don't want to have [the strain be aggravated[ because of that."

Coach Michel Therrien agreed there is a "possibility" Crosby will play today, but reiterated that he will not use him unless it is clear Crosby is completely over his injury.

"When he goes on the ice to play, that means he's going to be 100 percent," Therrien said. "If he's not 100 percent, he's not going to play. It's one of those injuries where you have to be really careful."

Crosby is in regular contact with the Penguins' training staff and insists he will not allow his desire to get back in the lineup to override sound judgment when evaluating his condition.

"I have to be smart," he said. "We've had a lot of conversations. There's no shortage of those. They filled me in on exactly what's going on, and now it's up to me to fill them in on exactly what I'm feeling."

Penguins are proving they can't handle the opposition when they don't have Sidney Crosby. Pens lose 3-1 to the Isles. Malkin went off in the third after getting caught with his head down. Kid needs to learn how to skate with his head up. It looked like he took the brunt of the hit on his left shoulder.
