I think the Penguins may have expended a lot of "nervous energy" early and may have been flat out exhausted. Hockey is a wicked fast game, which is why it is so exciting, but it also requires endurance. I think we may see a much better game 2 from the pens ...especially with respect to the outcome, if they settle down and play 3 solid periods.

The tickets are $5.00 and parking in the arena lots is free. Concession stands are open throughout the game.

I don't believe that at all. They may have more experience, but they certainly don't have more firepower. Other than the one errant goal Zetterberg scored last night late in the 3rd, the Pens D pretty much kept their A line in check and were skate to skate with the Wings in the first period - I think the Pens dominated that first period. Don't get me wrong - I'm not underestimating the Wings - they have a very good hockey club, but as has been said - they aren't unbeatable and certainly not invinceable.

The Pens got their baptismal game out of the way and I believe they will come out on fire in Game #2. Therrien will work their hineys off in practice and as this is a very tight knit group of guys, they will find a way to win as they have all season and especially in these playoffs.

No score after one, but only because of a bad call, IMO, against Holmstrom. No way that was goalie interference - he was trying to get into position. I'm sure the "Bettman favors the Pens" crowd is up in arms over it, though.

yes they were saying bettman favors the pens when that goal was disallowed.

I have no problem with the Pens. I'm slowly being converted actually. But I can buy the benefits the NHL would have with them winning the cup. Is there outright favoritism though? I dunno. They'd really love to have a guy to market like Gretzky when he was winning all those cups. The Pens remind of them... especially with the supporting cast in place.

It obviously isn't the reason why the Pens lost the game, but it is interesting to note that the Wings don't have that problem on their runway. Just some food for thought.
