I'm hoping this is an example of Lemieux blowing smoke and playing hardball.

Coming from someone who has only followed the issue from a far I thought the Pens weren't permitted to talk to anyone else about the areana except IOC until 30 days after the decision in case IOC wants to appeal it.

It's very hard to determine what Mario and his group are thinking. I'd like to think that Mario is just using this as a leverage to get the best deal possible. But it's a busineess and if they can get millions more moving the team and he's feed up with all the BS over the last 10 years why wouldn't he move the team?

I think & hope that the Pens will stay in Pittsburgh.

If they do move the team to another city, will Mario still be loved?

In that agreement, I'm not sure if talking over the phone and setting up meetings is not permitted. I'm not sure.

As for eventually meeting up with Onorato. I don't think Lemeiux has much of a choice. The NHL has made it very clear they don't want the Penguins to move and I believe it when you look at the market numbers. The NHL will make Lemieux sit down and see what Onorato and Ravenstahl have to offer.

IMO, Mario will still be loved. It's not his fault we didn't get the IOC plan or that the politicians in this state have screwed him over in the past. At the same time, I am a little perplexed that the Penguins didn't have a backup plan. In any business you can't rely on one plan (IOC in this case). We were banking on IOC and IOC only. The Penguins went as far as to sign the statement that they were not permitted to negotiate with the state (not a smart move at all).

Other blame Lemieux could and should take. The way this team has been managed since he took over. The buddy-buddy system with Patrick and Co. He made it a family instead of a business. When all is said and done, Lemieux is a hockey player, not a businessman.

In some cases I figured why not have the Penguins arena in the area of where PNC and Heinz are today. Except, parking might be an issue for both.

Lemieux will be loved....not like Les Binkley or Dave Burrows but loved nonetheless.

* "He hasn't scored since the eighth-grade picnic."
* "Never teach a pig to sing!"
* "Get in the fast lane Grandma, the bingo game's ready to roll!"
* "She wants to sell my monkey!"
* "Call Arnold Slick from Turtle Creek!" (In western Pennsylvania, some people pronounce creek as "crick")

* "Big Ben strikes one."
* "Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has just left the building!"
* "Book 'em Danno!"
* "He picked his pocket like he was walking down 5th Avenue"

* "He gave 'em more moves than Mae West."
* "You ain't nothin' but a hound dog!"
* "Oh slap me silly Sidney!"
* "Get that dog off my lawn!"
* "And the kitchen is closed!"
* "He smoked him like a bad cigar!" (originally stated in Czech when the Penguins had Jaromir Jagr)
* "Go ahead, make my day!"
* "You'd have to be here to believe it!"
* "You can spit-shine your shoes, 'cause the Pens are going dancing with Lord Stanley!"
* "Lord Stanley, Lord Stanley, bring me the brandy!"

Some people created this. I am not part of it. I just found it on the Penguins message board. It's a site that you can donate money to help pay for the new arena.
