There are no gimmies.

3-0 shutout

Pens were sleepwalking all night.
Too many penalties, Malkin fans on an open net.

ugh

Malkin didn't fan on that shot, it was tipped away at the last second by the Coyotes' defenseman. If he doesn't, Malkin buries it.

Yes, they took way too many penalties tonight, and they couldn't get any flow going as a result. But eh, you have nights like this sometimes. I think maybe they got caught looking ahead to tomorrow night, but Phoenix did play a very good game, so you have to give them credit. I suspect they'll be ready to go tomorrow - it's the Flyers, and you know the intensity will be turned up several notches. And to be honest, I am expecting them to get off to a slow start after playing more than 220 games in the past 2 seasons with a grand total of 6 months off. Once they get a few games under their belt, they'll get their game going and start rattling off win after win.

And I have to give the fans a big thumbs down tonight. What the hell, people? The Pens could have used your help tonight; instead, you were sitting on your hands. I understand it's Phoenix and nobody cares about them even in Phoenix, but still...you could find more excitement in a morgue than there was in the arena tonight.

Oh drop the pom-poms.

It was a boring game for the fans, they had nothing to cheer about and a frustrating game for Sid.

Whatever dude. They're supposed to be fans...get behind the team when they're down. We shouldn't have to wait until the playoffs to create some atmosphere in the building.

And I'm really, REALLY getting sick and tired of being told to "drop the pom-poms" when I dare say that the fans should be more supportive of the team, whether it's the Pens or the Steelers.

i guess im a little happy i fell asleep during the game then if we looked that bad. Ill watch the Pens through whatever but i needed to catch up on some sleep and unfortunately it was during the Pens game.

Sounds just like a bad night, every team has one, no reason to panice or start going after other people on here.

Pittsburgh Penguins Sign 2009 First-Round Draft Pick Simon Despres
http://penguins.nhl.com/club/news.ht...id=DL|PIT|home

Quote:
The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed their 2009 first-round draft pick Simon Despres to a three-year entry level contract, it was announced by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Despres, 18, will continue to play this season with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The 6-4, 205-pound defenseman, who was selected by Pittsburgh with the 30th-overall pick in the June NHL Entry Draft, has three points (1G-2A) in five games with Saint John this season.

Despres posted 32 points (2G-30A) and a team-high plus-16 rating in 66 games with Saint John last season, adding four assists in four playoff games. He recorded 14 points (1G-13A) and a plus-18 rating in 64 games as a 16-year-old rookie after being selected first overall in the 2007 QMJHL Draft. Despres earned a selection to the QMJHL All-Rookie Team.

The Laval, Quebec native represented Team Canada as an alternate captain at the 2009 Under-18 World Championships in Fargo, North Dakota and was a member of Canada’s gold-medal team at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament in 2008. Despres participated in the 2009 CHL Top Prospects game and represented the QMJHL in the Canada/Russia Challenge.

Guins just looked flat from the git-go, while the Coyotes brought their lunch-buckets, went to work, and out-played Pittsburgh, so they should be congratulated:
when I realized the game would be shown on the NHL Network, I ended-up going to a local sports-bar that carries that channel, so I could have a kangaroo-burger & watch the game, but with no volume, I couldn't tell if the crowd was fired-up or not.....

Hope they can beat the Rendellphians tonight!

The Pens just didn't have it - of course the fans didn't have much to cheer about - they got SHUT OUT - you want them to be happy and jump up and down?

Oh I bet NOBODY is as good a fan as you....rah rah siss boom bah

I really really hate all the holier-than-thou "true fans" that think they're better than everyone else.

Hey K - seriously - no one thinks they're better than anyone else around here. I've mentioned the same thing numerous times in the past and I have to agree with XT here with regard to the "fans" in the arena last night. Get behind your team when they're down and energize them instead of sitting on your hands. Many players have remarked that the louder the fans, the more it charges them up and they desperately needed charged last night. I think a lot of the problem is that some of these "fans" in the arena are kids and people who just hopped up on the Pens bandwagon the last two seasons and wouldn't know what a puck is even if it hit them in the noggin. They only know the Pens score when the red light comes on and fans around them jump up and cheer. XT and I see it first-hand at the games we attend. It's pathetic imho.

Oh - my - gawd - not another one.

So now it's "those bandwagon fans" who are the problem. If only "they" were as good a cheerleader as me. Stop it. Fans react to the team's play, not the other way around.

People pay good money to be entertained - it's not their fault the team didn't show up.

Only 79 games more games to go.

I'm not sure what else the fans could have done. I recall multiple 'lets go pens' chants when they were down 0-2 and 0-3.

The players are supposed to be professionals and they clearly mailed it in last night. They should be giving the fans something to cheer about but the pathetic performance last night was an insult to the fans.
