Im not going to believe Sarge's report of having a broken wrist because he finished the rest of the second period just fine and the post of him having one was made too early before the game was even over. Come on Gonch be ok!

sounds like it's either a wrist or shoulder.

FYI...Wrist is usually 6-8 weak injury...

I don't want to think about a shoulder.

Dans Bylsma wouldn't comment on the post game questions, but said it was a weird and awkward injury. So let's keep our hopes up for now. All is rumors.

Actually he did not finish the rest of the period - he left with over 7 minutes to go in the 2nd period and didn't return. All we have now is speculation, but I hope it isn't a serious injury.

EDIT: The Trib is reporting that he does have a broken bone in his hand or wrist, and will miss at least a month. Dammit!

BTW, this also means that Martin Skoula will be inserted into the lineup in Gonchar's place. I'm not exactly giddy at that prospect. The guy sucks balls - why else would he end up being with 3 different teams in the preseason?

This sucks

Gonchar injured in Penguins' win

Teammates were told Gonchar has a broken bone near his hand or wrist, and he will be re-evaluated today to find its precise location. He is expected to miss at least a month

"Obviously you can't replace what he brings to the power play," coach Dan Bylsma said of Gonchar, who would be replaced in the lineup, if necessary, by Martin Skoula, a longtime league veteran with his name on the Cup.
