Default Ben overrated? Yeah

Wow he's awful. I don't think Tommy Maddox played this poor. I've never seen such poorly throw balls or bad decisions.

Say what you want about lack of wide receiver depth, but if he was so elite like Steeler fans used to preach about, he would make things happen with average WR's, like Donovan McNabb does.

He's not a good quarterback without lots of quality players around him. I saw through the facade last year even in winning the Superbowl. The Steelers team was good, not nearly the best in the league but they won the big game, but it wasn't because of him. He's an average quarterback at best, and that's about all he'll ever be. There's a reason he went to Miami of Ohio and not USC, or Ohio State down the road.

The magic is over, now back to reality....

only time will tell but i am thinking you are wrong....so fast your trying to forget that ben won 15 straight games as a rookie........and ummmmmm yes...played great games in the playoffs last year........What you dont realize is that its not just Ben playing bad.....its the entire team.

He looked like he took 2 steps forward, and 1 step back today. I'm seein some progress in him, hope he gets this rusty shit outta his system fast though...13-3 sounds good still!!

Ben is just not himself.... He will probably need most of the season to REALLY get back to it. in the end, it looks like the accident, the surgeries, the pressure, etc. was just too much right now. But hey, he's young, he has shown A LOT in the past two years. I will give him this year to fully take in the playbook... make his screwups. Then watch him next year.

Why is it that the Steeler teams seem to need a bad year every 3 or 4 years just to make things right again?

Didn't Bradshaw go through the same kinda slump after winning a superbowl? I seem to remember the Pats not being so great the year after they won their first ring..I'll give him this year to take his lumps...but I'm still confident they can go 13-3.

I think Ben is being somewhat "exposed" because he's trying to do too much. He's not a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady type quarterback who can put his team on his back and carry them through an entire season, at least not at this point in his career.

I couldnt agree more. Ben needs this offense to be more balanced. I believe he is trying to hard and thats why we have seen the turnovers we have seen.

I think he was rushed back in that loss to Jax (no shame in losing to them), and that D-Line of San Diego's is ferocious (no shame in losing to them either) they kept the pressure on him to say the least, which lead to those picks.....but that loss to the shitty Bungles was just inexcusable.

It was posted on the front page of the site earlier, but he never was given a chance to fail, and this is it..these are the valleys that must come with the peaks that we enjoyed the previous two seasons. Just another growing pain.

In closing:

The Bengals still suck.
