Personally, coming from someone who has deployed for this "war on terrorism" 6 times now (3 month tours) I think this is kind of corny.

Well said, Stillers#1.

As I have said before, these cheesy posts have one theme in common to make a link between who disagree with the war and people who dont like the armed forced or the people who comprise it.

Totally irrational - just the last sad squeaks from the Bush Ministry Of Misinformation.

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

OK....I don't get on the boards to talk politics because it just gets ugly. So I am going to say this one time and then I am gonna leave it alone...whether you agree or disagree that is your perogative.

My comment before was sincere....and I don't appreciate it being referred to as "cheesy" or "corny". I do appreciate the sacrifices of our military...they deserve our thanks. And I don't hestitate to say it to anyone in uniform I happen to meet. That said however, I will go on record and say that I think the war in Iraq has proven to be nothing but an abysmal failure, run by a bunch of neocons who are so bull-headed and arrogant they can't see the truth in front of them. (BTW, don't accuse me of being some so-called "cut and run, bleeding heart liberal Democrat"...I'm not...I'm an Independent who has as much disdain and dislike for the far left as I do for the far right.). But just because I oppose the war does not mean I cannot appreciate the job the military has to do.

(Climbing off my soapbox now....)

I apologise for the misunderstanding - I was referring to the initial 'by the numbers post' which I have seen way too many versions of over the last year or two.

Im 100% on the same team as you on this subject, just because I have always been against the war in Iraq the pro-war factions have labelled us anti-armed forces which couldn't be further from the truth.

I have nothing but gratitude for the guys and girls who give up their normal way of life, and all the sacrafices that entails, to protect their country - but i'd love nothing bettre to have them home safe, not engaged in a conflict they never had a chance of winning due to major league bufoonery at the highest level.

Feel free to use the 'soap box' and time you want - thats what its there for

You are so right my dear! Showing our concern, and our caring for those in uniform is in no way "cheesy or "corny" Hang onto your beliefs, you are the one who is correct. Most people who feel that mentioning those in uniform is "corny and cheesy" are generally AntiGod, also.

You can't be anti-God when you dont believe in him.

Unless you are accusing me of being a Satanist?

There are better ways to show your appreciation for the military. Spend some time at a VA hospital, put together care packages for troops stationed overseas (especially important in the next two months), or donate some money to the USO.
