Default Injuries aside, I remember saying Ben was undevelop as a qb.....

Even in last season playoffs, I believed Ben was undevelop at his position. We had such a great running game with an offensive line that dominated the line of scrimmage. Teams respected the run even when we couldn't run the ball at all against Indy and Denver. This season has been a totally different story. No longer can Ben get 8 man fronts near the line of scrimmage and get easier reads in the secondary. The 15-21 pass attempts is not an option. The offense now squarely falls on Ben and he's making rookie mistakes. He has not thrown the ball enough. If you re-watch the games, Ben seems confused at times with different defensive coverages and schemes. As result, Ben passes our being thrown into double coverage and into disguised zones. I see Ben learning the qb position all over again as if it was his rookie season. He will be alot better in the long run and no longer will Ben be a 15-21 attempt passer--but a complete passer.

I think he'll be fine. But you're right, he's struggling to read defenses. Then again he's O-line is struggling to give him consistent protection.
Maybe this is his sophomore slump a year late.
This team will rebound, make this season at least respectful.

The offensive line is the reason we can't run the ball, but another 37 attempts by Ben will be good in the long run. Eli got his practice in the 1st season and Rivers is not being limited to 15 to 21 attempts. We have been hiding Ben and he has been somewhat exposed.

I agree to a point. I don't think Ben deserves to have the pressure of winning games on his shoulders. The OL needs to make room for Parker and co. to run. If they can't do that, then teams are going to beg Ben to beat them and he's not ready for that type of offensive responsibility. I think he should get more throws, definitely.

Speaking of Parker, if the o-line steps up, he honestly could be a top 10 back

He's faceplanted into a windshield, had an appendectomy, and has another concussion, all within about 4 months of each other.

How exactly do we put that aside, as if they have had no effect on Ben's play?

I believe it has some effect, but the big picture? Ben was/is not ready to carry the Steelers consistently without a running game.

Well I would say that Willie is pace to have 1100 yards and 10+TD's. Not to bad when you consider how inconsistent the Oline has been this year. Plus when you factor in that defenses might not be respecting the Steelers passing game. I would say leave Willie Parker alone. If anything we still need to find a RB to spell him from time to time. Dookie Davenport is alright but the Steelers still need to find a a true power RB.

Well back to the topic at hand. You said Ben is undeveloped as a QB. Well no shit. He is only in his third. Most QB's are not fully developed in their 3rd year as a QB. True Tom Brady developed quickly. But he had Charlie Weis one of the greatest offensive minded coaches in NFL history. True Brady deserves alot of the credit for his play. But it helps to have a coach like Weis. Lets face it Whisenhunt isn't no Charlie Weis. Plus when you factor that Ben is a beat up young man. I don't expect Ben to play well every week.

Let's wait until Ben is healthy again before we start looking at the 'big picture'.

What we've seen so far has been a rather small picture, and it's hard to look at the big picture when it hasn't been provided this season.

I totally agree with what you said and that's why it's so important to have a running game. Many blame the injuries for all Ben's poor play. But no one has considered what his role was the 1st 2 seasons? Ben did not carry the Steelers offense, but now he has to.
