Default SI Poll - Most Overrated Players

SI Players Poll
[Based on a survey of 361 NFL players]
Who is the most overrated player in the NFL?

AP
Terrell Owens, Cowboys.....10%
Brian Urlacher, Bears.....8%
Ray Lewis, Ravens.....7%
Michael Vick, Falcons.....7%
Eli Manning, Giants.....4%
Keyshawn Johnson, Panthers.....4%
Peyton Manning, Colts.....4%
Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers.....3%
Charles Woodson, Packers.....3%
Warren Sapp, Raiders.....3%

FAST FACTS: Giants QB Eli Manning and Panthers WR Keyshawn Johnson tied for fifth
(4.1%).... TO won the poll for best wide receiver in the NFL (SI PLAYERS, Oct. 16).... Urlacher is third in the NFC with 54 tackles; Lewis is 11th in the AFC with 50.... Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger got only 3.4% of the overall vote but 10% within his own AFC North.... In an accompanying SI PLAYERS poll that asked players to name the most underrated player in the NFL, voters picked Falcons RB Warrick Dunn (2.7%) and also cited Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander, Chiefs QB Trent Green, Colts WR Marvin Harrison and Steelers WR Hines Ward (2.4% each).

Glad to see some players share my views on Ray Lewis (I still am not sold on Vick but he certainly made my low opinion of him look bad the last 2 weeks).

Not surprised Ben got some votes and that Hines got some votes in the most underrated poll.

I hate Vick. I hate it that he is being successful lately, because it makes me wrong.

Peyton Manning was given 4% of the votes. Let that sink in as to how credible some of these results are.

So are you saying Peyton should have received more votes?

Maybe those voters place more weight on how you play in January than how you play in October and saw Peyton's playoff games against the Steelers and New England.

Why would they vote Owens as most overrated? That's crazy talk right there. He's done things that few WR's in the history of the NFL have done. Yeah, he gets alot of hype because of off the field drama, but that doesn't make him overrated. When he's on the field, he's a force to be wreckoned with. He holds the record for most receptions in a game, he's gotten over 100 career recieving TD's & over 11,000 recieving yards. I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but IMO he's a future HOF....

He is still one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, and at the very least, one of the top two quarterbacks right now. Him even being mentioned on this list is insane if you ask me.

Peyton isn't the only one that deserves blame for his record in the playoffs. His team contributes a whole lot to those losses.

I agree that Peyton may be the best regular season QB ever (as Bill Simmons The Sports Guy has said, if you need someone to throw 5 TDs against the Lions on Thanksgiving Day Peyton is the man) but based on the number of advertisements he is in for everything but Viagra one might think he has won the last 8 Super Bowls.

Maybe some players think the endorsement champ should be someone who has won a championship or at least played for one.

Well, you can't have it both ways.........

People keep saying that Ben is not a great quarterback, that he just had a great team around him. Now they say that Peyton is a great quarterback and it's his team that his losing the games. T-E-A-M = championship. Not just a quarterback.

I agree with some of these, but have to also question this poll showing T.O. as being overrated. He's a drama queen both on and off the field, but he is one of the best receivers in the league, hands down. Obviously, I question Ben being on that poll, but I suppose the Bungles and Hawks fans had a hand in that.

Brian Urlacher???? Are they serious? This guy is a beast and is, imho, one of the top LBs in the NFL.

I also do not believe Peytoon should be on that list. I think he has more than proven that he is a top 3 QB and has been for several years. It obviously has been proven that the Colts could afford to lose Edge, but if Peytoon decided to leave the Colts for more money down the road (which I don't believe would ever happen), that team would be in big trouble.
