Default Colbert/Cowher....wasted draft picks

Orien Harris....4th rd.....DT
Omar Jacobs.....5th rd.... QB
Charles Davis....5th rd.... TE
Ced Humes.....7th rd....RB
Fred Gibson....4th rd....WR
Nat Adibi....5th rd....LB
Bo Lacy....6th rd....OL
Drew Caylor...6th rd...OL
Eric Taylor....7th rd...DT

Here are guys who the Steelers have drafted in the last 3 drafts that have not made it out of camp.... (Harris was resigned to the practice squad after camp but has yet to play at all)

This topic is typically one that the Steeler nation tends to get a llittle testy about...nobody is allowed to question the Steelers drafting methods.... cause ya know what..... back in 74 we drafted 5 HOFers...

Chuck Noll is gone people.... management would have to put a port-o-jon in the war room if he were around, cause chuck is so old now that he probably has to take a piss every 15 minutes these days

This list is not a resume builder for Colbert.... is Colbert terrible??? No. Is he perfect and beyond reproach??? Of course not.

Interestting to note that most of us feel that OL, LB, and RB are positions of need right now for us..... you see a lot of those on this list..... maybe there is a connection.

Actually, what I see is a bunch of 5th thru 7th rounder's that should have trouble making a team that goes 15 - 1 one year, and then to the Super Bowl the next.

Yes, you are correct Colbert is not terrible (not perfect either, but better than most). In addition, Chuck Noll is old by the definition of age (as well as one of the greatest of all time). Also, he probably does pee frequently whether the present Steelers are 11-5 or 5-11.

No fear though, there is salvation.......We all know J. K. will be in charge of drafting this year.

I have to agree. Once you get into the late rounds, it's very difficult to find individuals that can make an impact on an already talented team. IMHO, the loses this year are not due to the lack of talent but instead, the lack of execution.
Maybe they could have drafted better in the earlier rounds but sometimes, the people you're wanting aren't there and a greater opportunity presents itself for a different player.

the steelers used to really make some hay in those late rounds.... that hasnt happened in a while...

i was just pointing out that cowher refuses to run some of these older veterans out and now we are left with aging backups....

the logans, carters, kriewaldts, and barrett brooks' of the world are not gonna solve any of our problems....

and cowher plays those guys instead of tony smith or kemo....who other than the KC game has rotted away on the pine for two years.....

and there are people on here that want him to start next year!!!!!!!!

start? cowher wont play him in back to back series, let alone back to back weeks

Were you expecting Hall of Famers from the 5th, 6th, and 7th round?

You can question anything you like but show me your Pre-2006 draft so I can pick it apart. Is your 7th pick making the Pro Bowl this year?

Those old veterans brought home a nice trophy last year.

Why shouldn't I be able to use hindsight, that's what you are doing.

Why don't you go out on a limb and tell us all exactly what moves the team should make now and in the future?

I have a handy set of links to Steelers draft picks in the relatively recent past.

http://www.steelertribute.com/DRAFT06.HTM

http://www.steelertribute.com/DRAFT05.HTM

http://www.steelertribute.com/DRAFT04.HTM

http://www.steelertribute.com/DRAFT03.HTM

http://www.steelertribute.com/DRAFT02.HTM

http://www.steelertribute.com/DRAFT01.HTM

http://www.steelertribute.com/DRAFT00.HTM

http://www.steelertribute.com/DRAFT99.HTM

http://www.steelertribute.com/DRAFT98.HTM

1998 is as far back as this resource goes, but im sure info from earlier drafts is available easily enough.

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.
