Default Coach Whipple to Boston College

WHIPPLE DEPARTURE A HUGE LOSS FOR STEELERS

Reacting to the news that Steelers quarterbacks coach Mark Whipple is heading to Boston College, a league source tells us that Whipple's departure is going to hurt.

"He's a great coach and a big loss for the Steelers," said the source. "One of the best coaches nobody talks about. He'll be an NFL head coach in five to seven years."

To get there, he'll have to prove himself at Boston College, in the same way that Tom Coughlin did before becoming the coach of the Jaguars.

Regardless, the Steelers will be facing even more challenges for the rest of the season.

"What has been a bad year for Big Ben has become a really bad year," said the source.

Hopefully if it is true we can pull into the playoffs and win one last Super Bowl for him.

Mark Whipple info, for those that dont know that much about him (like me)

http://news.steelers.com/team/coach/49267/

Its possible that he doesnt feel that he is going to a defensive or offensive coach anytime soon and is making the move to jump start his career.

Whether this indicates there will be a change of HC or not next year I have no idea.

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

Found this blurb a bit down the page...

"Given the importance of recruiting, Whipple most likely will leave sooner rather than later, leaving the team without a position coach for Ben Roethlisberger over the last three games of the regular season."

I would think that it means there will not be a HC change, and no coordinator change either.

he was a rookie qb coach working with a rookie qb who had played the position for a grand total of 4 years before turning pro. ben went 27-4 and won a sb in that span.

on the flipside kordell never had a qb coach until 2001 where he made it to the afcc game and a pro bowl.

if wisenhunt WAS gonna be the next coach im wondering if whipple was gonna be promoted to o- coord.

mularkey took tom clements up to buffalo with him to be his o-coord.

i dont think we can draw anything from this as far as any potential coaching changes go except that it is still up in the air. the rooneys and cowher have ALWAYS said they would RESUME negotiations after this season.

Could you imagine if we hired Bernie Kosar how pissed off Browns Fans would be?
