It is a done deal, though my Steelers swimsuit is not a bikini! The pics turned out well, though, and as soon as I download them onto my computer, I'll post some of the great pics I got in Puerto Rico, as well as the swimsuit pic.

I had an absolutely fabulous time in Puerto Rico, though it rained almost all day on Tuesday, but we went downstairs to the casino and I found a machine that was berry berry good to me! Palomino Island was as gorgeous as ever (this is the island that is owned by the resort) on Wednesday! I got a great tan and met some really nice people on the beach from Long Island who I'm going to keep in touch with. I enjoyed building sandcastles with their kids - made me feel like a kid again myself! We also took a guided tour of Las Cabezas Nature Reserve and the Cabo San Juan lighthouse which is the oldest lighthouse in Puerto Rico - it was absolutely breathtaking! We saw a variety of plant species and animals while in the reserve - those iguanas are adorable - I wanted to bring one home - LOL!

On Thursday, we went down to Old San Juan in the morning and took in all of the beautiful architecture and historic sites the city has to offer. On Thursday afternoon, we experienced the breathtaking beauty of El Yunque Rain Forest and did a lot of hiking on the trails up the mountains. In El Yunque, the clouds touch the tip of the mountains. There are over 50 different species of orchids in the forest and each one was even more lovely. It would take almost 2 full days to make the entire trek to the tip of the mountain, so we're going to continue our journey next December, God-willing!

Friday morning, we got up early and went down to the gym to work out a bit, then took a long walk around the resort and spent some time with our favorite white umbrella ****atoo, Snowflake. She is a beautiful bird and loves to be caressed on the side of her neck - she just eats that up - LOL! We had lunch and then made our way to Luis Munoz Marin airport, where we learned that our flight from San Juan to Charlotte was going to be delayed by an hour - ughhh.

I have flown quite a bit in my life and I have to honestly say that what we experienced 20 minutes into our flight was the most terrifying 5 minutes I have ever experienced. We were out over the Caribbean and the flight attendant had just served me a cup of steaming hot coffee. All of a sudden we hit the absolute worst turbulence ever and the plane (a 767) started to violently shake, go up and down like a yoyo and turn from side to side. We were seated in the middle of the plane on the wings and a group of people in the back of the plane fell completely out of their seats, as they obviously had taken their seat belts off. The luggage compartments opened up and luggage and bags were falling out. The flight attendants' carts looked like they had wings and passengers were doused with opened soft drinks, but thank God, no one was hurt. People were screaming and crying and I was terrified. For a few minutes, I was hyperventilating and couldn't breathe and my friend notified a steward who got me a bag to breathe into, as he said I was experiencing a panic attack. It was awful but the pilot got the plane under control finally. That 5 minutes seemed like hours to us. After we had all calmed down and I could breathe normally again, the steward came over to me to make sure I was alright and offered me a couple of complimentary ****tails to calm me down. I sucked that vodka down with some cranberry juice and the world was a bright place again - LOL! He told us that the trade winds create a different atmosphere up there when over the Caribbean and that he had experiened what we did - even worse - many times in his 17 years of flying, so that made me feel somewhat more relaxed.

When we got into Charlotte, we were delayed another hour for whatever reason and didn't get back to Pittsburgh until after midnight. It was a long day, but all in all, an awesome 5 days! Can't wait to go back next December! I missed all of you and this board and am glad to be back to share thoughts and help Mike, SCM and LITP moderate. I hope all of you had an enjoyable week!

SO glad that you're back safe and sound HTG and that you had a good time.

Hearing about your harrowing plane ride leads me to tell you that we've been experiencing our own terror here...LLT has been making all kinds of threats (bikinis, streaking, rocketship underpants, and on and on). Absolutely frightening! Thank God you're back to restore order!!! I think widespread panic was about to break out.
