Polamalu doubtful, Ward questionable for Sunday's game
Monday, December 11, 2006 By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Steelers coach Bill Cowher listed strong safety Troy Polamalu as doubtful and wide receiver Hines Ward as questionable on his injury report today. Both players missed the past two games with knee injuries - Polamalu had a second-degree MCL sprain and Ward arthroscopic surgery. Two other players are doubtful - safety Mike Logan (hamstring) and wide receiver Cedrick Wilson (high ankle sprain). Free safety Ryan Clark (groin) is questionable and center Jeff Hartings (knee) is probable. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06345/745327-100.stm Also, Cowher appears to be a little upset with Joey's choice of words (read below)................

Polamalu listed as doubtful for Sunday's game
By Tribune-Review Monday, December 11, 2006 The Steelers will likely be without Troy Polamalu for Sunday’s game at Carolina. The All-Pro safety is listed as doubtful for the 1 p.m. game because of a knee injury as are wide receiver Cedrick Wilson (ankle) and backup safety Mike Logan (hamstring). Wide receiver Hines Ward (knee) and free safety Ryan Clark (groin) are questionable for the game the Steelers have to win to keep their faint playoff hopes alive. The Steelers improved to 6-7 with a 27-7 win over the Browns last Thursday. After the game Joey Porter called Cleveland tight end Kellen Winslow a derogatory name for homosexuals. Cowher has not talked to Porter yet – the Steelers have been off since beating the Browns – and said what the outside linebacker called Winslow was “inappropriate.” “Certainly there is no reason to use that word,” Cowher said, adding that he didn’t think Porter meant to offend anybody with what he said. The NFL is reviewing what Porter said. The Steelers could lose quarterbacks coach Mark Whipple after the season. Whipple interviewed for the head coaching job at Boston College Sunday. Cowher said Whipple, who was the head coach at the University of Massachusetts before he joined the Steelers in 2004, will finish the season here even if he does get the Boston College job. Whipple returned to work at the Steelers’ South Side facility Monday. “He thought it went well,” Cowher said of Whipple’s interview. “He is excited about the opportunity.” http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_483689.html
