Domenik Hixon, WR, University of Akron (My Alma Mater).
I have a unique insight into the MAC because I work at a radio and TV station, and one of the on-air guys is a sports genius who calls all the Akron games. We both follow all the MAC schools closely, and we talk every week about which players are going to be break-outs and busts. Anyway, Hixon is 6'2" 192, a converted DB (and that move was made by his QB last year, Charlie Frye), is physical, doesn't drop balls, and runs a sub 4.4 40. He was also one of only 5 1-A players to score on both PR and KR, and ranked in the top 25 nationally in both PR and KR yards. He may have a great season catching balls from Luke Getsy (ring any bells Pitt fans?) this season and not be a sleeper, but as of right now, he's my #2 wish list WR behind Martin Nance (U Miami Ohio, Big Ben's favorite target in his last year). |

Hixon had a nice game today against Purdue. He was doubled up a lot today, and the Boilermakers defense is one of the best in the nation. He caught 6 passes for 80 yards, including a 37 yarder. He also had a great game returning kicks, returning 5 for an avg of 29 per, including a 51 yarder that he had one guy to beat or it would have been a 93 yarder for a score.
The Zips will not face a defense again this year anywhere near as good as Purdue, so I expect him to have a tremendous season. |

Actually, he plays big for 192, and I wouldn't want him to lose any speed. He'll definitely be playing on Sundays...

9 for 169 and a TD Saturday against Middle Tennessee State.
Oh, and he still leads the nation in all purpose yards per game at 214.5. Last edited by Suitanim; 09-19-2005 at 10:12 AM. |

Hixon was excellent again last Saturday against a very good Northern Illinois team, catching 6 for 104, including a 51 yard TD pass...he also rolled up a total of 231 all-purpose yards, and leads the nation in that category after week 4. This is only his second year playing WR...he is going to be a very good pro WR...

Well, might as well keep the updates coming...
Hixon had an excellent game again in a very disapointing loss to a mediocre Central Michigan team. He snagged 10 catches for 129 yards and 2 TD's, and padded his lead in APY with another 138 yards in KR's for a total of 267. |

welcome to Suit's personal thread
I wonder though how much being from a smaller school could impact his draft status. It happens ever year unfortunately, even though it shouldnt!! |
