I have always seen Brady as the difference up there. Along with the playcalling. One thing NE does better than anyone is patience. NE has other teams lose games as much as they win them and you just don't see teams not get nervous as games remain close or such later in the game. They are more than happy to let you make the mistakes. As for Brady, the patient part about him is I have never seen anyone going back to Montanna who was able to not get jittery in the pocket and move just enough to get a second or so more. Look at Ben. Last year he was a one read type of guy. He read half the field, and only two receivers. Brady seems to be able to check down all his guys, half the marching band, side step a tackle and deliver a completion to the popcorn guy in the third row sometimes. Uncanny abililty to see the whole field. So in my mind, I would hate to see someone say system QB as well.

Brady's a very smart Quarterback...very poised, very Montana-like. He never seems to panic in the pocket.

Anyone who would refer to Brady as a system QB needs to be slapped in the face. You can't just plug and play Quarterbacks in a system. It's much different than putting just any running back behind a good offensive line (Denver).

So is it the system or the player?

A little bit of both...Brady wouldn't be as successful if he was put in Cleveland or somewhere else, but New England couldn't just take any other QB off of free agency and expect the same kind of production.

Cleveland is cursed. Modell threw the hex on them for NOT giving him a new stadium. Mayor Mike White screwed that up. I like the hex.

Smartest. Post. Ever.

Seriously. In his first season to se4ason and a half, Brady was working from the system, but he has grown into something far more. I'm not saying he is the greatest ever, far from it, but he is far from the system QB he was in the begining of his career. You'd be amazed at how many people still think of Brady as that QB.

Yes but certain QB's are better suited for certain systems. Bill B has created an offense that suits Brady perfectly. He plays to his strengths. Brady is also just a great QB in general as mentioned before. But you have to attribute a fair amount of his success to the system that Bill B. has in place for him.

Like also was mentioned, u couldnt transplant Brady into a dog team like the Browns and expect im to have all the success he has now, it just wouldnt happen. He has the players and playbook that suits him best.

I think the system is designed around the man. Brady as I said earlier can get the pass to the 3rd and 4th guy better than anyone. So NE uses this strength in its system. It doesn't matter really who they have at WR cause they all run the same routes. With us it was Burress who was that mid to deep threat and Ward was the possession guy. Up there, its anyone, so Tom uses his ability to stay alive and see the field which allows NE to be very effective in deep routes that might have started out lower on the tree cause a)no one set guy was designated deep per say b)Tom was able to wait until that guy got open longer than any other QB. I can't say it is totally system, cause Bledsoe wouldn't get the extra split second Tom gives himself. So I say the system is to max out your QB's most unique talent, standing tall in the pocket.

I usually don't talk football, or listen to anyone else talk football once the preseason starts. I rely solely on what I see, and form my own opinions.

However this thread really does my heart good. Brady deserves the kind of respect you're giving him here. I'm glad for him. And in giving him this respect, you make me have a lot of respect for you for being such true fans of the game. This is what I had hoped for when I came in here several months ago. As you probably can tell, I love this game. I got chills up and down my spine when I played it, and I get chills now when I watch good football. It's THE game as far as I'm concerened.

Thanks for making my day.

Brady is a good QB, the question should be where would they be without Vinateiri ?
