Big Ben Reveals Small Break
Ben Roethlisberger's body wore down as his rookie NFL season progressed.
It's natural, given that the 2004 campaign was longer than any of his four seasons at Miami University.
But the Steelers' quarterback had one injury no one knew about until now -- one suffered in the AFC championship loss to New England on Sunday.
As he cleaned out his locker and left the team's practice facility Tuesday, Roethlisberger told reporters that he broke a toe on his right foot while trying to evade a tackler near the end of the first half. He returned for the second half and threw two touchdowns, but could not rally the team past the Patriots, who won 41-27.
Roethlisberger, who also threw three interceptions in the game, admitted making "bad decisions."
He also said that he began tiring toward the end of the season, but said it's no excuse for a dropoff in play.
"It's a learning experience, and it will help me both mentally and physically for next year," he said.
One player who may or may not be back next year is wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who discussed the possibility of leaving via free agency when asked by a reporter after the Patriots game.
If the choice was Roethlisberger's to make, he would keep Burress on the roster.
"Plaxico is misunderstood," Roethlisberger said. "People always think he's so selfish, and he isn't anything close to that. No one knows what a great teammate and team leader he is."
Not sure if it's true but it came from WTAE Action News, and I usually figure it is true....hope he feels better with that injured toe we didn't know about
Great Season this year, &&And hope you come back next year&&Being better than ever!

Re: Big Ben Reveals Small Break
Even if anyone did know about the toe right after or during the game, there was no way that was gonna be made public till today atleast. especially given such a big game as this was.
We could all tell when Ben began to hit that rookie wall that they all go thru, but he gutted it out, and still made plays for us, which will only help him next year even more.
